One thing that has been apparent from the new transfers is how most of them know Bowyer to varying degrees and how they all speak well of the respect they have for him. Players who want to play for the manager will give everything for the shirt. Its whats impressed me about Bowyer and this pre season, the players actually want to be here.

Very pleased with this, a real statement of intent, following on from Donaldson and Paudie signings.

I admit, I was very sceptical of City being able to pull this one off, despite all the rumours, just didnt think he would drop to league 2.

Starting to feel excited about the coming season now, despite relegation to league 2

That announced budget seems to be stretching a long way

 

Doyle needed a player more like Donaldson than Vaughan.

Budget permitting, I hope we keep Doyle. You need at least 3 senior strikers

 

Vaughan won't even be on anywhere near 5 grand a week. About half that, would be my guess.

He'll be a very wealthy man and for all his quality, a mixture of injuries and joining successful clubs who've had real depth of quality, he hasn't nailed down a regular spot for 3 or 4 years.

Maybe he just wants to join a club where he'll play regularly and at a level where he believes he will score a lot of goals and have some fun....

I'd be delighted if and when this comes off.

 

Paudie for me, the lad looks a natural leader.

 

I'd be happy with players such as Vaughan,POC, Donaldson, Mellor and Scannel in our squad if we were after promotion from league 1 never mind league 2. A few more quality additions and we'd look very strong.

Shout out to Rupp too. no chance has the income from season tickets alone funded the likes of Vaughan etc.

Why is he surplus? there's nothing in the rules that says we can't have 3 good strikers.. it's a long arse season, they can all play their part

 

I would rather have the experienced likes of Vaughan and Donaldson next season to try and get promoted at the first attempt, than bringing in someone like George Miller, who had the pace, but he ran around like Bambi on ice, and was truly awful

 

Age is completely irrelevant if your football IQ is higher than the level you are playing, I give you Jamie Cureton as an example.

 

At City we normally buy the bag and get the footballer for free.

You maybe right you maybe wrong, who knows, but one thing is for certain is that @Faithful Bantam has been right all along, now is the time to show humility and give him a well done!
