His career since his Huddersfield days isn't that bad, I would think his lack of appearances at Sunderland were because they were in a relegation fight, and sometimes strikers tend to get overlooked at times as the manager is more concerned with stopping goal going in at the other end ?.

His return since his Huddersfield days isn’t that bad? He’s had one good season mate and 2 awful ones

I was replying to his injury record not his goal tally.
I though you was in Singapore, can't you sleep.

I saw what you meant - But even so, I have to agree with @BoingBoing@BoingBoing on goals return. Afterall, even if he stayed fit, it's no better than what we have, if he can't find the onion bag. ;)

The only chance we're going to get to play people like Donaldson or Vaughan is if they're deemed not good enough for the Championship.

Needless to say they've both had a couple of quiet seasons, or they wouldn't be here.

Thorne was the same, 1 goal in 36 for Norwich.

Even Dean Windass posted poor figures at Middlesbrough and Sheff United before slamming home 27 goals.

Heck, that was after a poor season for us at Championship level.

I really don't think those stars are at all significant given these forwards are suddenly being asked to play against defenders nowhere near as good. Just because McLean flopped doesn't mean Donaldson or Vaughan will. They might find it easy.

Most of those apperances were in the Championship, I'd suggest when he drops down 2 levels he will find it easier at league two level as he showed at league one level with Bury, 24 goals from 34 apperances no guarentees but there is no doubt about his own footballing ability.

Without a doubt, Dave. My main concern is how the game has changed, and can his body take it, at Lge 2 nowadays ? :) He's at an age where injuries take longer to heal, and Lge 2 is still full of 'cloggers'.

He's 30, it's not like he was playing in the 70s is it.

The thing is Jon, the game is becoming more athletic by the year - However, tough, hard tactics are still employed by 'lower' performing teams. That's one Helluva demand to overcome for ageing cultured players.

    Edit; Also tag in @BradfordBanter@BradfordBanter

I could think of a worse partnership than Donaldson and Vaughan for L2 football. Both played in the Championship last year. Let's not forget where we are before we start moaning. I think both signings send a message if I am honest...

A lot of the experts on here were sneering at the possibility of Lyle Taylor and Tom Eaves just 12 months ago....

As I say Ronnie, the game hasn't progressed THAT much in his playing career. We shouldn't even be considering somebody as ''legs gone'' at 30.

What was you suggesting about the game becoming more athletic and him ageing then?

I was talking about injuries .......... And how they are harder to overcome with age. Particularly when you are unlikely to be exposed so often, playing at a higher level. Did I really need to explain all that ?

Not once did you mention injuries, I'm not a mind reader Ronnie so yes you did need to explain that! As for his recent history I see nothing to say he is struggling with injuries?

English football in general is pretty full blooded and physical at every level. Good players no matter what division get lumps booted out of them so i doubt it'll be a shock. Might even be easier to avoid when you've got a step up from semi pro players trying to kick you rather than actual athletes.
