Imagine the ability to rotate Doyle/Donaldson/Vaughan, you’d have pretty much the best front line in the league every week.

 

The only chance we're going to get to play people like Donaldson or Vaughan is if they're deemed not good enough for the Championship.

Needless to say they've both had a couple of quiet seasons, or they wouldn't be here.

Thorne was the same, 1 goal in 36 for Norwich.

Even Dean Windass posted poor figures at Middlesbrough and Sheff United before slamming home 27 goals.

Heck, that was after a poor season for us at Championship level.

I really don't think those stars are at all significant given these forwards are suddenly being asked to play against defenders nowhere near as good. Just because McLean flopped doesn't mean Donaldson or Vaughan will. They might find it easy.

 

Couldn't agree more. The forum has become an uncomfortable place of late. When a poster makes a casual remark about how our defense is stronger, because it wasn't prefixed with 'I think' ( our defense is stronger), the poster was ridiculed. It's the constant nit picking of peoples exact wording that has become mundane. Who gives a flying feck? I knew exactly what the OP meant.

I understand Tranmere are offering to "look after" his car for him for £1 when parked at training and matchdays.

Whereas City have said he can park next to the Belle Vue and have @Fordy117 drive him to the ground in his Merc.

O'Connor, Riley and Akpan out then 2 centre mids, a horrible, experienced centre half and a left winger then we're pretty much done.

Maybe a young pacy striker on loan if the budget stretches.

Very optimistic about the upcoming season assuming we can resolve the midfield gaps.

 

i would be happy for Doyle to stay actually. Yes, he was hugely disappointing last season, but in his defence, he had terrible support all season up front, alongside Donaldson or Vaughan would surely improve his effectiveness

 

I actually think you’re right. It was suggested (reasonably) that Vaughan’s agent may have used us to get him a better deal at Tranmere - maybe it was the other was around...? I’d imagine that the length of the deal was key, given his age. No doubt it includes clauses/bonuses for promotion and probably wage increase if we go up too, which is fair enough.

Also, and just to be clear, because a number of people have thrown some kudos my way, the ‘ITK’ stuff I’ve dropped on here really is a collective thing from a group of well informed luminaries at a website not too far from here.... don’t want to pass this off as my own work.

Nicky Maynard is out of contract next month at Bury and would be a better signing. He scored 22 goals last season in league 2 and Plymouth may make a move for him if they sell Ladapo.

I could think of a worse partnership than Donaldson and Vaughan for L2 football. Both played in the Championship last year. Let's not forget where we are before we start moaning. I think both signings send a message if I am honest...

A lot of the experts on here were sneering at the possibility of Lyle Taylor and Tom Eaves just 12 months ago....

 

Not much in it with any of them, IMO.

O'Donnell is fine.
