We have to get a balance, The players in league 2 are usually younger players very fit, very pacey and the football can be basic, Too many older players will be a mistake, In GBs own words you need big, pacey, physical players in this division to make an impact

 

Agree and yes I understood you weren’t saying we’d will sign those 3. But if we did, I’d agree that the squad would already be good enough for the top 6 in L1, let alone L2

 

Joking aside, not sure I agree with you. Last season saw us sign the likes of Doyle, Scannell, Akpan, O’Donnell etc that all ‘really wanted to be here’ and we didn’t even have a manager in place.

It helps that we’ve got a good manager selling the club, but it’s clearly not the be all for some players.

Thatd be fantastic news. He could be the answer on the left wing if indeed he is allowed to come back and if he can recapture his form from two seasons ago. All hangs in the balance I guess

 

On reflection, perhaps not as daft as I first thought. I hadn't realised that he's nearly 36.
Just seen that he's currently a free agent. But could surely still do a job in L1, so probably wouldn't want to drop to L2. But then again, the same could have been said about Vaughan.
Have you heard a whisper or is it just what you're hoping?

 

Great signing. I’m surprised at the three year deal, was expecting it to be a one year deal. Would be great if we could keep hold of Doyle. Having Doyle, Donaldson and Vaughan upfront would be great.

 

Personally, I don’t see us keeping Robinson and Wood. I think we’ll keep one for cover and bring in a more senior left winger.

It was just a suggestion - doubt he would move up North at this stage of his career anyway.

Yeah I think you're probably right. I'd like to think we could keep Robinson if he puts all his issues behind him as weve seen his pace in L1 and to have that in L2 would be a huge asset. Wood seems steady at best yet hes on a long contract isnt he?! Now we see what magic and wheeling and dealing Bowyer is capable of I guess
