Yes it would. 35 so has a couple of miles left on the clock. Currently without a club after a poor season last term.

I think he will end up in L1 but we can dream!

I’d rather we ‘let’ McCartan go though. Also on a wedge at City and according to some, could bring in a fee. I know which of them I’d rather keep

What happened to him last term? He played 44 minutes!

Totally agree, and I am left feeling that it is probably wasn’t the length of contract that sealed the deal but the manager. He was in contact with Vaughan at the end of last season. It feels great to be a city fan this morning.

Agreed he didnt do as much as he should have done and his confidence towards the end of the season was low. But what can we expect when he was practically playing up front alone for most of the season and had next to no supply?! We played to none of his strengths. Hed be best utilised facing goal in the box, with decent supply, not with his back to goal, outside the box trying to win aimless punts up field, that if he does win go to nobody.

Yet to sign a big physical player up front? Wasn’t that why we signed Donaldson?

We need 4 competent strikers in the squad. Choosing between Donaldson, Vaughan, Doyle and a pacy striker is what we need.

If we need to reduce the wage bill, I’d rather McCartan, Patrick, Gibson, Colville, Akpan, Riley and A.O’Connor leave before Doyle

Let's hope we continue the "Dads Army" renaissance and sign some clued up central midfielder. Doesn't matter if his legs have gone but his football brain is still working.

Not saying it’ll be those three, but I expect the left winger and at least one CM to be quality ‘statement of intent’ type signings. Maybe another squaddie CM and centre back, and a couple of loans - depending who we shift out.

We’re steadily building the sort of squad that would give me confidence of a playoff push in League One so it has to bode well for league two. If Bowyer does the business he wants, we’ll be a real force....

You mean they didn’t want to be for Collins/Drury/Abbott?

I am going to be interested now to see how season ticket sales go on the back of this cluster of signings and positivity. Hopefully @Bradford End@Bradford End can give us an idea over next few weeks.

I get your point but I think quality gets you goals. I'd rather we kept Doyle and hopefully offload Patrick and McCartan to make the savings. Agree were still short of a bit of pace. Shame about Robinson. He could be a real asset in L2

Amazing how different it is to last season. Most of the players wouldn't have had the foggiest who Collins and Drury were, never mind wanting to play for them. Now we have a manager who has a positive reputation amongst his peers and this is evident in the signings.

Either Blackpol or Swindon will have to match what he's on at City or offer a 2 year contract minimum IMO.
Maybe its me getting carried away with Bowyers signings so far but he still has 12 months ? on a lucrative contract at Valley Parade maybe if I was him I'd want to stick around and hopefully be a part of a squad that does very well this coming season.

Sounds like a win/win situation for us. If he stays, we get a great second season from him, if he goes to one of our rivals, we don't need to worry because he'll be crap. Happy days.
