Nixon linking us with Adams. I might be in the minority here but I really hope it isn't. We've had enough negative managers to last us a lifetime.

@Fools Gold please tell us its still Wellens?

 

Personally I'd love it to be someone non of us have really thought about with fresh ideas and an emphasis on a fit squad - a Wagner type perhaps but I have to say I'm not very hopeful. I'm sick of seeing the EFL merry go round of managers doing and saying the same things. I don't want to hear about big club this and that should be in the chamoionship blah blah

If it's Adams or Wellens then so be it but Sparks has got to stick his neck on the line and end the endless manager merry go round and let someone have a go properly.

 

The more I think about it, the more I am concerned with it being Adams.

1. If it is then its not a done deal because of the playoffs.
2. We won't know for sure until early June and he could easily change his mind.
3. If they go up he will almost certainly want that challenge rather than be back in the arse end of football.
4. Someone has had input into the retained list. If thats Adams weve broken FL rules and he's in breach of contract. We could end up being accused of poaching.
5. If he hasn't had input, why have we released players he may want to keep. Whose had that input.
6. 1st of June start wastes three valuable weeks in the rebuild.

Not saying I don't want him, but his appointment could very very easily leave us with egg on our face and bring set back a month if it goes wrong.

 

Just out of interest, which non dinosaur free flowing attacking style manager with a track record of success would you like?

 

I got the impression from Sparks that a decision had been made 2 or 3 weeks before season ended. Because new manager was not available to start then, they kept on T&S until after the Morecambe game to see the season out. Once the season had ended no reason to keep them in the hot seats giving them the false idea that they would be in charge next season.

There is a lot of doomsday scenarios on here but it’s nothing that a couple of good seasons can’t cure

 

I wouldn't want Parky back.

 

I think he said that straight after T & S were removed from their posts. Parker appears to have nothing to fill up his column inches today so has decided to drag it up.

You don't need a lot of money to get out of League Two. This idea Bradford City's owner needs to invest was disproven last time we went up, and will be disproven again.

You don't need to pay transfer fees at this level - there are better players that get released each Summer than anyone we could coax away from another club for a fee.

If big wages meant anything in League Two, Salford would have won the league and Vaughan and Donaldson would have scored 30 each last season.

It's bad logic - you're only painting a target on your back investing heavily at this level. In the Championship, well, that's a different ball game entirely.

 

I wasn’t convinced by Adams, just assumed he’s another run-of-the-mill lower league manager from the basic knowledge I knew of his managerial career.

However, having looked into it deeper, I think he would be a superb appointment.

 

Turnbull knows exactly who the new manager wants.

 

If we have an agreement with Adams and Morecambe how are we being unfair to them. At no time has Sparks mentioned them or Adams there is nothing the club can do about speculation

 

It wasn't all hoof ball, he usually liked wingers to get around defenders and it was good passing football that turned over Chelsea on their own patch.

 

I'd definitely have McFarland in my top Five, possibly ahead of Jewell because he started off "Bantam Progressivism" and took a team out of the Fourth Division for what looked like keeps. Not the most entertaining of our fondly remembered sides, but by far the most pragmatic.

I think top would be Cherry because of the circumstances in which he did it - liquidation, rotting ground, finding gems like Hendrie, McCall, Abbott etc.

Dolan would have to be somewhere close because of the football that 87/88 team played, bit Parky will always be top simply because he made history and created an epoch that only ended when the mad german came along

Knowing us we'll end up paying Adams to stay at Morecambe..!!

 

One thing we do need to do is to stop having a go at Adams style of play before he has even started, if it is him he will have one objective and that will be to get us out of this crappy division next season. He has had success at his previous clubs and whatever their limitations Morecambe showed a lot of good traits yesterday that will be necessary for us to adopt if we are to have success.
There are not really any good football sides in Div 2 so we need to get our heads out of the sand and accept what we need is a winner, be it a bit ugly at times. We have to accept where we are and not to keep looking above our station before we have actually achieved anything.
If it is a bit ugly and we are not winning, then is the time to be frustrated and to start asking questions - but the new man (whoever he is) will need us behind him from the start and not sniping at how he sets about getting us up there
