Sparks said he wants players that can play 40/50 games a season, so my guess is that the likes of Harry and Ismail will be gone no matter what.

Also listening to Sparks are don't think he was that fuss on those OOC leaving.

Plus you have to remember the season is over. Those that are OOC have think about themselves. Their agents would be sorting out clubs weeks ago.

Agreed about the German owner/manager thing but I think it would just be a coincidence. The guy seems to be actively looking to work in the EFL.

 

I think it will be a cull - both OCs, Pritchard, Ismail, Wood, Clarke, Donaldson, Huffer. And I think the club will be looking for offers for Evans and O'Connor.

This is a big decision for Ryan. He needs to make a good decision with a manager that comes in and delivers good results.

I may be getting it all wrong but he seems to like Adams at Morecambe. There were hints he tried to get him in earlier in the season, he's complemented them a couple of times, so there seems to be something he likes. (couldn't see it myself on how they played on Saturday, but anyway)

Wellens ticks the box in terms of winning a recent promotion. I think that's a key factor Ryan is looking for.

Whatever he does, he needs to back himself and make the decision he feels is best and stick by it. He then needs to hope it works well. A poor decision here would be expensive and reflect poorly on him.

 

Personally I'd love it to be someone non of us have really thought about with fresh ideas and an emphasis on a fit squad - a Wagner type perhaps but I have to say I'm not very hopeful. I'm sick of seeing the EFL merry go round of managers doing and saying the same things. I don't want to hear about big club this and that should be in the chamoionship blah blah

If it's Adams or Wellens then so be it but Sparks has got to stick his neck on the line and end the endless manager merry go round and let someone have a go properly.

 

Got a sneaky suspicion that we'll announce Wellens tomorrow and the delay has been so today could be all about the memorial. I certainly hope so anyway.

 

I'd be surprised if he isn't trying to speak to Adams or wait to speak to him.

I can understand why the announcement was made yesterday, I just hope there isn't an uncomfortably large gap between yesterday and the new appointment because it will get filled with all sorts of speculation.
