Doesn’t to have experience of running a football club, needs to know how to lead. The first thing I’d do in his shoes is appoint some I trust to run the football side and I’d focus on the business and making sure all the non football staff have the tools they need to do their job. Give them the support and encouragement they need and make sure my football director is doing the same.

I simply didn't know what to expect from the Sparks interview and tried to listen to it with an open mind.

On the positive side, the interviewer raised a lot of very important questions and didn't avoid putting Sparks on the spot. In fairness to Sparks, he responded to them all and didn't duck some of the more sensitive ones. I applaud that. Sparks said all of the right things and there was some implied criticism of our summer recruitment with holes in the squad and as a result too many changes in the team from game to game.

It was good to hear him confirm that we're prepared for the Janauary window opening but I've heard that every year so I'll judge on what we do in January. He clearly understands that we are 2 or 3 players short in key areas and that is impacting on performaces and results. I'd hoped that the interviewer related Sparks' response to SMc's view that he is happy with his squad but he didn't. There are clearly differences of opinion there between the manager and the CEO.

I was pleased to hear Sparks admit that the club had lost its identity on and off the pitch. But his reponse was a clichéd one. 'We have to address that' without saying what our identity should be or how he will address the issue. Maybe he needs time for that but I'd like him to come out early on to explain what our identity will be on and off the pitch. On a more positive point, he seems to have a good grasp of how the salary cap will impact on us on player development, scouting and recruitment. And that will be a very important issue moving forward. He appears to have worked in another sector which had to deal with a salary cap system - Super league?

Does he have a vision of the club in the future? He said he did but never articulated what that might be. The best we got was his intention that we should be pushing for promotion next season. I don't call that much of a vision! The only othe part of a vision that he hinted at was the club will be a 'sustaianable' one. That's the opening line from the JR playbook. Asked whether Rupp would invest in the club, his reply was exactly what I'd expect. Yes, if there was return to be made! He didn't provide any more meat on that statement but I didn't hear it that Rupp's money was burning a hole in his pocket and he'd be willing to spend it at VP.

Overall, I thougfht as a first interview he delivered it quite well and what I'd expect from an articulate person with a background in journalism and PR. We heard more from him in the 50 or so minutes than we have in total in the past 20 years from his predecessor. It was clichéd in parts and I'd have preferred to have heard more about the substance of what he intends to do rather than simply saying there are issues and we'll sort them. I tend to judge people on what they really deliver rather than on what they say they will deliver. I've learned that over many years in my business life. So far as far as I'm concerned with Spark's earlier promise to publish full accounts for the club, it's Promises 1 Delivery 0! I hope that improves dramatically in the future.

How bad is it when you need to spend money because your manager needs help to do his job instead of getting a proper manager to just replace him

Is it possible that Rupp has realised that his evaluation isn’t realistic? Every day with Covid around another few quid is being knocked off its value. Let’s face it, as with anything, the value is only worth what somebody is prepared to pay.

If I was Rupp I think I’d be just cutting my losses and moving on.

I would happily pay £350 for a ST in the Championship. That would mean we are a club on the up and had a half decent team. Potentially some local derbies Yorkshire+North East+Lancashire and decent crowds. That's £15 a game and in league 2 if you attend an away game you pay more than that on average.

That is all a pipe dream right now but I would love us to be managed by SM into the championship.

Don't know how credible the recent new CEO rumour is but that could be the catalyst for a period of growth, investment and development of the squad.

Trust me Manningham is sure at the forefront of "growing something" but it's not related to football.

This would be potentially wonderful news for BCFC. Nothing against Rupp on a personal level but under his tenure, it simply hasn't worked. The club has regressed , lost support and dropped a division. He in my eyes, also shares, so much responsibility for the mess Rahic left us in.

    RUPP HAS ULTIMATELY FAILED.

Now a potential change would be very much welcome, quite a tonic in these uncertain times, from a chap whom has previous credentials and somebody who has a genuine desire for the sport.

    I hope this has momentum.

Not sure what Fordys problem is? He should be excited that there is a guy who has been there and done it before wanting to possibly take our club forward. It may turn out to be bollocks but Jenkins has definitely shown an interest. I get a feeling our local paper knows but has been told to keep schtum, hence the piss poor attempt at deflection on twitter.

If rumours or recent murmurings are true we have now missed out on David Sharpe who went to Mansfield and Huw Jenkins?
And this mystery man who we never got in the end.

it’s a bit like our striker search this new CEO isn’t it

What was this Jenkins story based on? The fact Alan Nixon hinted at it. A 12 page thread of everyone getting stupidly het up because of Alan Nixon. Its embarrassing.
Some are even suggesting its the clubs fault yet have absolutey no idea of any detail or if it was even true.
Get this in the shitbin along with the ridiculous season ticket sales obsession thread.

Agree, non of us on here with possibly one exception even know if there have been any talks. If there have been talks, how many know what exactly has been discussed? Can't understand all this vitriol aimed at Julian. He answered an SOS to steady a badly torpedoed ship. Along with many other clubs fans at the moment, my main object is survival. Anyone who can forget how near we came to not having a club to support has a short memory(I will forgive the under 25s)

Sparks was very much playing the visiting Chairman/CEO rule at Tonbridge on Saturday. Anyone expecting a Baldwin or Jenkins level of appointment should prepare themselves to be disappointed.

My source is the same as what the usual in the know suspects who run websites / blogs about the club. They will be out in force when the news breaks as saying they’ve known for weeks, which to be fair they probably have. There have always been leaking taps at city, you just need to know someone they love to talk to. Let’s put it this way, the same source told me that Rahic had gone about 2 weeks before anything official came out. Also that Hopkins and Bowyer had gone prior to them actually going officially.

I was told that Jenkins was in talks to become CEO and was going to be tasked with finding a buyer or potentially leading his own consortium. There was annoyance that the news broke in the press and across social media.

Its all gone very quiet since. I don’t think that is a bad thing and doesn’t necessarily mean that’s it’s a dead. Perhaps the contrary.

There are other interested parties and Stefan Rupp is very open to selling the club. If the right offer comes in make no bones about it, he’ll be out like a shot and I don’t blame him. He still however feels a moral duty to keep the club competitive. Money is there for January.
