Let's forget this idea of fighting for his place. The new guy has.dropped two divisions, he ain't getting dropped, especially when he's been targeted in the first place. And then how exactly can Foulds 'fight' for his place when the left back spot has gone? It's not like Hughes doesn't know what he has to offer, he's not suddenly gonna grow a quicker set of legs which Hughes is apparently looking for.

 

I'll bet Simon Weaver couldn't believe his luck when Hughes said yes. Regular starter, fit, up to speed and a good defender. There won't be a team in league two who sign such a game ready full back this window.

 

His man management seems to be poor

 

Both Sutton and Foulds dropped last week. Two players who are National League level in my opinion.

Foulds has played 18 consecutive matches and has never let the club down but has been sent on loan to Harrogate? Why?

 

Cos he isn't good enough perhaps? I wonder if Ridehalgh was fit whether Foulds would have played at all?

 

Surprised at this. Not the left back I’d have let go personally.

 

He deemed the lad good enough in the close season, to give him a two year contract! If he's "right" now, he must have been wrong with his analysis of the player in the summer.

 

Foulds has generally been ineffective when in the opposition's half.A steady defender but his delivery into the box is certainly not his best attribute, Saturday's game been a prime example when in a good attacking position.

 

Frankly Silver, he hasn’t progressed, in fact he’s gone backwards imho. He looks like he’s lost any confidence in going beyond the half way line. If we want to progress, we have to be honest , and honesty brings ruthlessness.

 

Wow, that's a ruthless decision from Hughes. I had assumed that Bola's arrival meant that we were looking to save on Ridehalgh's wages for the last 6 months of his deal or he'd had another injury setback nut obviously not. It looks entirely like he wasn't happy with our LB options and we've gone for an upgrade. Good luck to Matty for the rest of the season but I'm very happy that our management are being hard nosed and making decisions like this.

 

I tend to agree with you at the start here. Seems like a change Hughes just felt he needed to make.

Ultimately, Foulds is a defender - have we lost games because of his errors? I'd say no.

Can we say we haven't won games because he hasn't contributed? If you answer this 'yes' then go and tell the same to Chapman, Gilliead, Eisa, Oliver, Walker who combined have less assists than Foulds.

If the new lad does well then great but if not then this will look like a bad decision.

 

midfielders that do little but bringing a full back in will change everything seriously if nothing is done to sort that midfield out during this window then I just give up with it

 

The one big weak link ? I hope you watched Foulds replacement last night and if you thought Foulds was weak goodness knows what you think of Bola.

 

Yep!! First match against the divisions on form team of the last three months - but yes let's write him off

 

In fairness it was Bola's first game in months and off the back of an injury. Yes, it feels irresponsible to throw him straight in and yes, he wasn't great but to judge him after 90 minutes away at the divisions form team and with the last of in mind, seems incredibly harsh.

 

Wow - tbh I think the complete opposite. I think Halliday is quite good going forwards but is not a great defender!
