It's an unusual look to loan out a regular starter like that.

However, I think it's the right move.

For all the 'he never let us down' comments, he's a weak link in the back line for me, and that defence isn't doing well anymore. It used to have great stats earlier on in the season, but not so much anymore. It definitely needed freshening up, and Foulds isn't great going forward.

Providing Boli is actually decent, and assuming Ridehalgh is back to fitness and ready to provide back up, I don't mind this move at all.

Foulds didn't do anything wrong, and doesn't deserve to be denied first team football. Good luck to the lad, and again, we're sending first team squad players out on loan - which is GREAT! It shows the depth we have, and keeps them active at a relevant level.

This isn't like sending Reece Staunton or Finn Cousin Dawson to toil away at some distant, very low level, which is what we're used to, it's the sign of a big club with a big squad flexing it's muscles IMO.

Seems very odd getting rid of a steady LB (who I rate better than Ridehalgh) when it is the central midfield that is the glaring problem with our current squad

and folk moaning about his crosses?? I wonder how many successful set pieces and crosses captain fantastic has had(!)

Shocked by this one considering he’s a starter.

Bizarre. Either there's been a fall out or Hughes is planning a drastic change of system to wingbacks and doesn't believe Foulds can play that way.

Very strange, I think he's done well. Not great, but far from a problem.

What bugs me more than anything, is that ridehalgh will be far from being match fit, and Ebola has a bad track record with injury. I pray I’m wrong but I really don’t have any confidence at all that we’ll get a result against Carlisle

Bang on. Hope to see Hendrie, East and Gilliead moved on too. We need better quality, blend and balance. Sutton can cover at RB although Hughes might bring in another if Hendrie moves. East is again, steady. Loan him out. Gilliead goes in circles and backwards. Upgrade needed on both for me

If Hughes doesn't rate them then get rid.

Only Chapman and Halliday have more assists - it would suggest more of the offensive players need to step up.

Seems a bit crazy to me seeing as the Injury record of the two possible replacements is woeful which would then mean having to play someone else out of position. Only positive thing is Harrogate aren’t really a threat to you so it’s not as crazy as sending a player to Barrow

It's a tough business. Hughes obviously doesn't see him in his plans for the rest of the season and I suspect we won't see him again. I'd say he hasn't really developed much this season while he has he has been good in patches. I would like to think he has been given the choice to go or stay and fight for his place

For those bemoaning a lack of midfield replacements (and I'm one), Hughes hasn't said he's finished in the transfer window, so let's hold our horses until we know that he's done. He's evaluated the squad on the last 11 months and obviously recognises who will or who won't make the step up. As unfair as it is on Foulds, we have to be ruthless if we want to succeed. Let's be honest, something had to change.

At times he was our most creative outlet via some very good crosses and has a couple of assists to his name. Was our most consistent player a few months ago but his form has dropped of late. Looks like Hughes wants a different type of fullback and as fans we must trust this judgement for now.

Frankly Silver, he hasn’t progressed, in fact he’s gone backwards imho. He looks like he’s lost any confidence in going beyond the half way line. If we want to progress, we have to be honest , and honesty brings ruthlessness.

To be fair Kev, based off this we could loan most of the side out lol.

Yes that's probably the case, at the start of the season he looked to have kicked on from last season but seems to have lost confidence going forward. Despite all the doom and gloom about the place we are in a decent position to kick on and I expected to see some changes during January, Mark Hughes may come over as stubborn but he is very experienced and no fool. He actually said at the start of the season that the aim for this season was promotion but it may be next season. Players out of contract at the end of this season plus players like Matty Foulds who he has given plenty of game time to but now feels he needs better.

This new left back from Rotherham has a history of being a bit of a sick note. Ridehalgh is also a bit dodgy fitness wise so don’t be surprised to see Gilliead at left back at times this season, but getting rid of a guy who’s rarely injured, has at least two assists this season, would have had one on Saturday had Oliver’s header not been cleared off the line, hasn’t really let us down despite the many fans now calling him poor is Hughes call and he will be judged by this.
