As i'm not an agent/manager/chairman i wouldn't have a clue what players were out there for the wages he's want. From the reported wages he is on he's one of the better paid players in the league so you'd expect him to one of the top performers in the league and judging by what Charlton fans have been saying he hasn't been getting near that level. So if you bring him in you are relying on whoever becomes head coach getting Marshall to play at a standard that only 1 of his last 3 managers have been able to do.

He might not have been totally happy at Charlton but was with us. I think we will have to agree to disagree on this one. That's the intrigue of football, different opinions.

Correction:2 out of his last 3 managers. He had a successful time at Port Vale

Really it should be 1 out of 4.
Lee Bowyer, Karl Robinson, McCall, Parkinson. Only 1 of them 4 got him playing to a good standard and under 2 of them he struggled to get into the starting 11 at times.

Better than Marshall on our budget? Very unlikely, although I'd be all for it if we pulled it off.

We have a player possibly available who has done it for us and some turn their nose up and yet we have others getting excited about a player who played less first team games than the fingers on one hand. Funny game football.

Who was he playing for under Port Vale? You can include him too. He wasn't give a fair chance under PP and was hardly left out due to poor performances. He had his favourites (Kyle Ried in this instance) and stuck with them.

don't think he was totally happy here because if he was he wouldn't have moved and it was well documented he wanted to return to the south/london, it was nothing against us he just wanted to be closer to the family. Situations are where i think managers and coaches are underrated, as much as Marshall could be a good player which he showed he needed the right manager which he had in McCall who had the right management and playing style to suit marshall and get the most from him.

Tell the head coach to earn his fecking money and get those levels out of him then! That's what we'd be paying him for!

He doesn't fit with our young/improvable philosophy so I wouldn't bank on him returning and at 31 I'm not so sure I'd want him back. Being 31 and winger it's realistically his last chance of bagging a good wage so it would be tough negotiating with old Edin's 50/50 wage concept.

Edin's 50/50 wage concept should have been one of his first mistakes learnt.

Marshall is better than anything else currently in our squad but he would be very stupid to come aboard Edin's project.

Double correction, one out of the last four as Parkinson, Robinson and bowyer didn’t get a tune out of him

Kyle Reid is six months younger than Marshall. There would be a meltdown on here if we resigned him

As I said before Summerbee and Beagrie were about 32 when they arrived at VP and we got several good years football out of both of them, age isn't necessarily a barrier. The young ones also learn from the experienced players.

I liked Kyle in League 2 but he wasn't as good as Marshall, there would be a meltdown if we signed Reidy but going by the general consensus on social media a lot more will welcome Markie back than won't.

Absolutely true but if they look after their bodies a lot of sprinters last well into their thirties these days and Mark is no different. We didn't have anyone capable of individually changing a game last season and he can still do that job for us.

I'm not saying it couldn't work in our favour but our model just doesn't suit signing a 31-year-old winger that has already left us as he didn't want to live up north. He wasn't happy here the first time around and he will want a big wage so I'd rather look elsewhere and I agree younger players can learn from an older player but I'd rather start the younger ones and let them learn.

I think he was happy with us, I remember the scenes at Chesterfield station when City fans spotted him waiting for the London train after the game. Very funny. The problem is there are very few players in our division with his ability and I reiterate that age shouldn't be the reason for not bringing him back. He's just turned 31 and a 2 year deal would see him at 33. He could be the catalyst to get us into the Championship IMO.

I think he was happy playing his football with us but his life outside football was not so happy. If his wife/partner was not prepared to move north back then, I doubt she would be willing to do so now and I doubt he would be willing to put that sort of strain on his personal life again.
