I think it is an interesting debate to have - the usefulness of having a DoF in League 2, but ultimately Adams had spoken. As he’s the manager, he deserves our full backing, especially since his time in charge is still in its infancy. He doesn’t seem to want to work with Turnbull.

The club talked of a restructure, I wonder if they are going to make more use of a performance analyst type man - who churns out data for signings - as that’s the way the game is going at the top.

With that and packages like Wyscout, do we need a DoF or even a network of scouts as was the case 20 years ago etc?

 

Stop making excuses for them, nobody is expecting Ronaldo, but if Sparks and Rupp want Adams to get promotions they have to fund it properly.

If Adams wants autonomy then let him have it. He's a man who is prepared to take consequences for his own actions and I applaud him for that. Turnbull's wages will help fund another player and he's not set the world alight with who he signed in January has he.

 

It's not an unwillingness to move on. Quite the opposite, we move on every couple of months or so. It's a lack of commitment towards whatever the latest idea is that's the problem.

 

I’ve noticed yet another partnership announced this morning with some drinks company I’ve never heard of. Sparks loves these deals doesn’t he but I’m interested to know what it actually brings to the club? Is there any kind of revenue involved? I had a quick look online and saw Barnsley have these benefits on their website…

• Invitations to networking lunches
• Attendance at high profile Club events
• The chance to network with major local and national brands
• PR opportunities associated with Barnsley Football Club

 

I saw that too, had a quick look at twh company and wasn't sure what the benefit was. At least the marketing department is active I suppose as to being completely inactive under Rhodes.

Just to suggest we can do better but not then actually offer any targets we could go for, is poor criticism at best or whinging at worst. With a suggestion it is constructive criticism.

Wages, geographical reasons and it wouldn't surprise me if some players didn't fancy playing for Derek. He won't be every player's cup of tea.

We employ someone who's sole job is to identify targets and if I aren't seeing the results on the pitch then I'm well within my rights as a paying customer to suggest that I don't think he's doing his job well enough.

Do you go to resteraunts and suggest a revised recipe and menu for the head chef every time your meals crap?

 

Sadly Rupp is unwilling to compete with the non league sides such as Chesterfield and Stockport in terms of budgets

 

You also need to be able to clear your lines on the deck in certain situations, rather than hesitate, as shown by our central defenders

 

I’ve a good few years with P&L responsibilities under my belt but not in football, I speak frequently with people who do know how to run a football club, including one of the teams you have mentioned and someone who works at one of our rivals from last season. Thanks you anyway Ferran Soriano
