Looks like Adams not happy with the recruitment and is looking to take charge of it?
Turnbull gone after only 10 months.

So far Sparks looks like the grim reaper. Every appointment gone within 12 months. It’s not a good look in my view

Agree that it isn't the best look for Sparks' appointments, but our recruitment since he came in does not seem to have pulled up any trees.

Wasn't he previously at Scunthorpe? Looking at their trajectory in recent years their recruitment clearly hasn't been too clever either.

I hope its a case of bringing in someone else to fill the role and not reverting back to the stone ages and leaving recruitment solely to the manager.

big about face by the club in less than a year. It was decided we needed recruitment men as we kept employing managers who signed 15 players to play one style of football then promptly sacked them, leaving the new manager to come again and sign a different 15 players to suit his style. This Smacks of Derek putting his foot down personally.

Will change again next year once he's gone

Turnbull was required last year as we were a ship without a rudder following last seasons disastrous summer transfer window.

The signings have been somewhat fair to middling since he was appointed and I did wonder who would have the main say over the transfers during the recent window - Turnbull or Adams. The influx of ex-Scunthorpe players does very much have the feel of Turnbull having a big say in recruitment, which maybe Adams didn’t like.

The article explains that Adams will announce a restructure to the clubs recruitment soon - bringing in his own trusted team? Anyone know how recruitment was ran at his previous clubs?

Having previously worked at Chesterfield he probably negotiated the deal to transfer Rowe there.
I fully understand Derek Adams wanting to go in a different direction. There could be a few moves out in the January transfer window.

Good. We still have a fair amount of deadwood to go. Of the signings made by/ under Turnbull only Cook & Canavan stand out.

Adams mentioned he had his scout in Ireland watching FCD, not the clubs scout. This to me says he’ll be very much like Parky and will be running the shop. He’s certainly entitled to want to do it like this as it’s his job on the line, depends if the club agree, which is basically just Sparks as Rupp won’t get involved I imagine. I expect Adams to get things his way from now on, I mentioned at the end of the window he didn’t exactly sound enthusiastic about the strikers brought in at the end of the window. I doubt he’s impressed and probably thinks Tunrbulls wage can be used to get someone who can actually score.

Looks to me like we tried the modern sporting director/recruitment director route and have turned our back on it in less than a year. Kudos for changing something which isn’t working but on the back of sacking Stuart a fortnight after a new contract it’s arguably a sign of a lack of judgment in recruitment

Problem is there though is we end up with nothing, like when parky left!

also it means he has to stick with derek now, cant change his mind and sack him now.

Same old argument re having a Director of Football.

    I am not keen personally.

It may work for the completely inexperienced duo , but not for Mr Adams!

I'm guessing we'll see the appointment of a chief scout rather than a replacement Director role. I think these days more and more scouting is actually done with data analysis and using various software platforms rather than the more traditional approach.

No suprise really my view is Adams should have all responsibilities of the squad just give him a budget to work off. Sparky will have enough issues to sort as CEO. January transfer window will be a key time . If Adams gets the financial backing we will go up. Promotion this season is a must .

Might not be a bad thing with the more recent squads we’ve had;)

I'm not even sure Canavan is. He looks very slow and cumbersome to me and partnered with someone equally lacking pace like POC we look very shaky when there's a ball in behind. We used to have pace at left back and Wood got us out of trouble at times but neither full back has that capability at present.

Well let’s be honest…. bringing in Robinson from Port Vale was a sackable offence in itself, particularly when we needed a GOAL SCORER!

You are probably not wrong. Canavans do have a large turning circle.

I have to say that I have been disappointed with Canavan so far. Strong enough in the air, but too hesitant at times on the deck.

Yes probably the last straw that one. You could tell Adams was not a happy bunny with this signing.

I wonder if Adams is truly happy and 100% behind the appointment of Trueman too.

I can see more changes in the coming weeks.

I think Adams will be a success here, but probably knows he needs to ensure we keep in touch with the top 3 until January, and then hopefully a better window in January to kick on

Honestly think Trueman just puts the cones out at training. Adams has a record of going in at club's and appointing a No.2 from within that infrastructure, we're no different.
He is though his own man.
I wouldn't think for a sec. any number 2 has much influence over him.
He appears to live & die by his own opinion's & record
