Is it possible to suggest with the criteria and budget we had, that Robinson was that man?

You need to understand that this in transfer terms was last minute due to angols injury. If he was fit robinson wouldnt be here. That being said i am expecting him to be gone come January, and Lavery too.

Parky's success came nearly a decade ago. Football has moved on in that time and we need to move with it.

Their model has only been in place for 6-8 months so it’s hard to judge. This is the problem clubs have - fans have very little patience so any long term change in infrastructure is difficult to do. Football is a results business so I can understand that people want instant results but it just doesn’t work like that. We are crying out for a director of football but we would need owners like the clubs that I’ve mentioned to give them the time and resources to change things. It’s Ok Ryan Sparks getting us partnership deals left right and centre and and giving the toilets a paint but if the product on the pitch is useless then all of other things are pointless.

    Last minute?

Angol was injured in the 17th August and the window shut on 31st August. That's two whole weeks to identify and bring in a target which should be ample time given that a good scouting network should always have future targets identified anyway.

Exactly this. The U turn on here since the summer is incredible. It’s gone to Songo’o being the final missing piece and HMS piss the league memes to we’ve had a dreadful summer and Turnbull was liable for all of it - only now he’s gone though.

yeah, but to be scrupulously fair, there was a delay of over a week getting him assessed. It wasn't until the weekend before the deadline that it was confirmed he would be out for a while.

Lee Angol was injured well before the transfer deadline, and we were short on strikers before that. I know how I would replace each key member of my team should they leave, with his history of injury I would have expected City to have a short list prepared, presumably the same short list from which he was recruit two months earlier. It’s a lazy excuse to say time was short. City’s recruitment failed, again.

If the club waited for a week until the scan results knowing the deadline was approaching then they're even more amateur than I thought they were.

Luckily, imo anyway, there's no way on earth they would do that (although perhaps I'm over estimating them)?

The guy from Peterborough recommended a player in non league who ‘would have got us promoted’ to Ryan Sparks according to his podcast. However the budget wasn’t there for the £300k over 2 years. All done to funds as usual. Make of that what you want.

It would be interesting to know if this was part of Adam's coming to Valley Parade, Turnbull had to go at the earliest opportunity.
I'm not sure at our level anyone other than the man who's job is on the line should be responsible for the incoming and outgoing of players.
Even more so with a guy like Adams who looks to give 24/7 to the club he's at, be that more training sessions or watching games etc.
Ryan comes across as a very thorough CEO but you have to ask after saying we are going to do things differently after his appointment did he get this one wrong, as I say above Adams doesn't come across as a guy who what's others involved with the football side of things.

What your saying is right in terms of he should be able to do his job and sign players. That’s what he’s ultimately done. The counter argument to that is that if you think that they are shit singings then who do you realistically think Bradford City a league 2 club who have been nothing but dire for half a decade going to sign?
As things stand clubs like Accrington Stanley, Wycombe, Cheltenham and Morecambe are all more attractive propositions. Turnbull or anyone in his position can only do so much. You can’t make a player sign. The pool we are finishing in is sometimes very different to the pool the fans think or expect we are in.

You would hope so, but with regards Robinson was it sign him or shuffle players around hoping one would come off, thats not to say I believe Robinson when fit to do 90 minutes will get loads of goals, but he has the presence IMO to be a good strike partner for Cook.

True I also think Robinson could be a good and cheap signing when match fit would be good up top with cook

There is some truth in this and it seems to be the order of the day pushed by football media and social media narratives designed to be effective 'clickbait' as I think the kids call it these days. If Liverpool had lost last night it would have been 'has Klopp taken Liverpool as far as he can', they were doing the this exact thing with Solskjear (excuse my spelling) after the defeat on Tuesday. I'm sure I don't remember it like this year's back before the advent of social media. The thing I'd say about our situation, it's not so much the fans who've called for Turnbills head, it's actually our CEO and manager. As such we have to trust the rhetoric behind the move, the relative success or failure of such a move can only be accurately commented on after after a prolonged period in the new set up.
