If a footballer commits animal cruelty or any other type of crime then they are on thin ice working in a profession where they are seen as role models irrespective of whatever sentence the courts decide on. If the footballer in question is on facebook and uses a profile pic of him wearing the training kit of a particular club and joins a public facebook group which advocates an illegal activity and posts in that group about how he is engaged in that illegal activity then you have to question if someone with that mentality is cut out to be a professional footballer.

Just to be clear, the following link to the East Midlands Hare Coursing Facebook group contains some very unpleasant imagery and it would appear that Kian was last out with his dogs 3 weeks ago (3 out of 4 hares killed):

Not on facebook, but if your allegations are true, then this does reflect on the club, and a parting of the ways may be the best solution.

Hare Coursing is a cruel and barbaric so called 'sport'. It is no surprise that it's linked to organised crime.
This young man was, up until very recently, involved (what appears to be) on a regular basis in a highly illegal activity.
Putting aside all the hypothetical clap trap about comparing it to other crimes. Let just deal with what he has done.
This was not a 'one off' where he made a silly mistake one night like drink driving. He took part willingly on a regular basis in what is a particularly cruel crime.
He shouldn't be allowed to pull on a jersey and represent this club.
There's a lot of debate about this clubs new brand image. Where does this sit within that image?
Harratt may have been punished by the courts but that fails to deal with this young man carring the responsibility of being a public figure.
If he is so enamored with tearing a creature to bits then perhaps half time we could release him onto the pitch and then chase him down with a pack of dogs for our 'entertainment'.

Wow. I was just about prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. Young lad, silly mistake, lesson learned etc.
Then a couple of weeks before his court appearance he's out doing it again and posting it on social media. I doubt we will see him again in a City shirt.

Or just let him play 90 mins and let him feel the crowds wrath. He’s done nothing in the way of football here. Big man chasing hares. Not so big man when it comes to his so called job.

I wouldn’t normally lift a lengthy post from the Telegraph and Argus, but I thought that this particular insight, apparently from within the agricultural community was worth reading.

Appalled. Having lived on a farm in the East Riding for 20 years, the illegal "sport" of hare coursing is the scourge of not only the East Riding but also Lincolnshire where I now reside. It is an activity related to organised and violent gangs and usually involves huge illegal gambling, threats, intimidation and violence towards farmers, landowners and their employees, and anyone else who happens to get in their way. This of course is in addition to the cruel , violent and needless, suffering and often horrendous death of a wild animal who's only defence is to run for its life’.

Perhaps worth reading the rest of their views. It is post 23 at the bottom of the T&A ‘comments’ section. https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/23094032.bradford-city-player-kian-harratt-fined-hare-coursing/#comments-anchor

I’m not a hare coursing expert but can someone tell me the difference between that and fox hunting?
If Kian was a posh boy from the south chasing a fox round on a horse, would that be ok?
What about the knuckle draggers who go out shooting rabbits and pheasants? How can they be sure it’s a clean kill with no suffering, yet we accept that as fair game.

I don’t condone animal cruelty but just wondering what the differences are to what Kian did and the examples I’ve given?

Fox hunting has rightly been banned, on the clean kill, no it can't be guaranteed.
But we are dealing with organised intimidatory thugs here.

No. Apparently a Prominent huntsman fined £3,500 for advice on illegal fox hunting.
    https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/director-dorset-league-united-utilities-zoom-b960790.html
That is for ‘advice’, rather than being convicted for actively being involved.

An example of someone actually involved, ‘Mark Pearson, aged 62 and of Child Okeford near Blandford, was found guilty of hunting a wild mammal with dog, an offence under the Hunting Act 2004, yesterday (October 18) following a trial at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court’. https://www.southwestfarmer.co.uk/news/23060579.south-dorset-hunt-man-fined-fox-hunting/

He was fined £6,000 as well as being ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £190 and costs of £620.

Be interesting to see if he features on Saturday.

Wonder if Mark Hughes gives him a pass/second chance?

I don't think Mr Hughes or the club can give him a further chance here.
His chance may be to go back to Town, and really get his head down and work, but will they want him?

Why? The lad has made a mistake but then how many footballers haven't? Can't we let him learn from his apparent error and concentrate on his football?

It looks like he's changed his social media back to him in a Port Vale shirt when it was him in a Bradford City shirt previously, unless he has multiple accounts
