I have it on good authority that we have sent him back to Hudds, who in turn are looking at releasing him from his contract

Massive shame as bags of potential. Hasn't helped himself whatsoever with social media etc, however we were all young & naïve once. I am also told he is easily led by the crowd he hangs about with

Maybe he was that committed to making it as a footballer, he didn't have a normal childhood like most kids. Regardless of the crime, City fans should cut the kid some slack. We've had wife beaters etc play for the club, but that is quickly forgotten on some folk

 

Who is our chief scout? Next time he’s asking a club if they have any poachers on their books, he needs to be more specific.

 

Surely someone from the club occasionally keeps an eye on the players social media posts? Especially when they are as public as his settings are.

It's not like he posted once on that Facebook group, he was doing if often and even as recently as 2 or 3 weeks back, fully knowing he had a court date set for his idiotic behaviour.

 

I used to protest myself against foxhunting and hare coursing. However, this young man is 20 years old and should not have to face a kangaroo court as well. I myself made many mistakes in my youth which I reget now. If you never made a mistake when you were younger I would be surprised.

The crime has been committed, he has been found guilty and has been punished in accordance with the law. What is left now is the fall out from the reputational damage that he has brought on City and Town and that could potentially have a much more profound impact on his life and his future employment prospects just as it would on any member of this forum if they had behaved the same way and similarly dragged their employer's name through the mud.

The best outcome from all of this is that Kian completely disassociates himself from hare coursing and I do not think that the prospects of that would be enhanced by him losing his job and having reduced employment prospects in what is a well paid profession but unfortunately his actions to date may have already set some of those events in motion.

Being a professional athlete in the public eye requires many sacrifices. Kian needs to decide if he is willing to make those sacrifices and those people who are close to him probably need to play their part in helping him as well because it may involve ending some relationships and that is unlikely to be easy. He needs to understand that his hobby is totally incompatible with his profession and that being more discreet about his pasttime is not an option, continuing it in anyway whatsoever will probably end up finishing his career.

 

He’ll get released by Hudds, get a contract easily elsewhere, because he has ability and there are always desperate clubs. However, sounds like he is in with a bad crowd and he could be one of those wasters who drifts out the game by the time he’s mid twenties.

 

He will end up playing part time in local non league. Apart from scoring a goal in a play off final, he's done nothing anywhere. Doubt there would be a queue of would be suitors from the football league

 

Perhaps they could help him out a by getting him out of that crowd and loaning him to a club away from all his mates etc, a last chance saloon type of thing. Go away from your mates, knuckle down, score goals and come back a different man

 

A lot may depend on what they think they have seen in him whilst away on loan and any previous conversations about his life out side of football. If they think he will make it they will give him another chance otherwise they will use it as an excuse to bin him off

 

He’s got a good pedigree though Idle, coming from a decent academy at Town. Paul Mullin was released from there before he wound up at (then L2) Morecambe…..I reckon Harratt could easily get a similar sort of move. Low wage, no fee, low risk to new club. If he’s deemed a bad egg, they release after one year. Scored goals and got a L2 promotion on his CV and been on loan at a big club with us.

If he had to drop to northern counties level so soon I’d be shocked. He’s better than yer Kevin Sanasys and Danny Forrests.

 

Maybe so. I just think clubs are a lot more sensitive and conscious of fans reactions about players past demeanours now.

Its not like he is an established mature player. He has had quite a few loans spells already, and not exactly established himself yet.

Put it this way, I very much doubt we would have signed him if we had have known about his barbaric hobby

 

Nope, agree on last bit. If it was a one off, he had been caught, then he stopped, it wouldn’t be so bad, but the fact he’s carried on after being arrested…….then been thick enough to post about it on social media……christ.
