Who of quality is going to join a club with so many unanswered questions?
We’ve seen supposedly quality players fail badly at ridiculous cost to the club.

I agree with waiting until the summer, or ar least until the new CEO lays out the plan for the future.

We definitely need clarity on the future direction of the Club. We seem to be in a limbo state between the Rupp/Rhodes steadying the ship regime and the future setup/new CEO regime. That needs to be sorted soon, so that we can move forward with a clear plan and a vision that we cal sell to incoming players.

And also sell this plan to fans who might be wavering about future season ticket sales.

The club can only spend £1.5m on players’ salaries. it’s not players or a tunnel, they can do both.
I agree it’s a squad lacking in quality and with a bit of imagination we could have had a better squad.

I agree, consolidation can turn into relegation and I
    for one find that unacceptable.

I’m going to play devils advocate here. Have we got that much money to spend?

We’ve have Ryan complaining in the press every couple of weeks about the lack of funding, even questioning why fans aren’t purchasing iFollow passes and how hard this hits the club

We tend to sell long term prospects (offers for Staunton will be hard to resist) and pay those on contracts to leave
We need to get the owner/ceo situation sorted before even considering bringing in new players
As has been said mid table mediocrity is the aim and any player that aspires to it is a wate of time
Needs sorting at the top first this is a wasted season

I think we need to stop hanging on every word Stuart says and take it all with a pinch of salt. He fires from the hip, we all know that. He isn't Gary Bowyer or Simon Grayson when delivering after game analysis.

I doubt that the club has really written off this season already. We have a raft of injuries exposing the squad. January will be interesting in who comes in and who leaves.

Dunno if they have enough, it’s up to them how they spend their money, it’s Ryan’s job to get more money in to the business so he’s going to say they need to sell more iFollow passes and so on.

The club has pissed money up the wall this season on automatic extensions for Ismail and Donaldson, 18m deal for Guthrie and signing DMH. A few seats, some plywood and a plastic tunnel is loose change compared to that monumental waste.

Any chance of getting Wood signed up or is he going to be another Mezza?

For sure there's no way the club have written off this season.

    Zero chance.

They will work as hard as possible to try and ensure this squad challenges for the play offs.

But for me, it's a non-starter - the Exeter game showed some improvement on the back of two easy wins (and wins are never easy, as we know, Southend just won their first match - isn't it us that always loses to teams on bad runs supposedly?), but the fact is we've no wins against anyone above the bottom four. We almost beat FGR, but the sheer lack of cutting edge means we're likely to draw more than we win. We're also shipping some pretty horrific goals against anyone above the bottom four, which suggests there's an immense amount of work to do with these lads.

What I'll certainly afford McCall is this: when we're attacking with confidence, we're fluid and we're effective, right up until the ball reaches a Clayton or a DMH. Between them, Clarke, Watt and Cooke can be as good as any midfield in the division, but they're also very samey, make poor decisions in bad areas, and are defensively suspect.

For every strength we have as a squad, we have a GLARING weakness, and when it comes to centre forwards, I really do mean glaring.

I don't doubt there might be some bargains to be had in January, but we won't be the only club looking to take advantage and as things stand, we definitely aren't one of the most attractive propositions. Any half decent player isn't going to want to tie themselves down to a 2 1/2 year plus deal with us if it looks like we'll be spending at least another season after this one in the khazi league, they are going to want to sign for one of the big boys like Newport, Cheltenham or Forest Green that are in with a decent shout of league 1 football next year.

The contract extension for Donaldson was in his favour, so it was not a decision made this season, it was under Bowyer the previous season and McCall or Rhodes couldn't do anything about it. He was never going to say no I won't take it. I don't know about Ismail though.

It might amaze you to hear that there are thousands of players who would give anything to play in League Two.

This characterisation of players desperately seeking League One football is nonsense.

Many of these 'big boys' have probably spent up to, or near to, the salary cap. I suspect there will be few clubs, with money available, who also have spare capacity within the salary cap.

I can't see us signing many players on longer term contracts when the manager is only under contract until the end of the season.

We aren't talking about the 'thousands' of players that would give anything to play in league 2 though are we? We need better than what we've got, a handful from the few dozen who are actually decent at this level and could do a job in league 1 as well if it came to it. Those are the sort of players we should be looking to sign, and those are the sort of players who as things stand, will see a number of other clubs in this league as a more attractive option than us. That, as Fordy would say, is a fact!
