Less than 7 weeks to the next transfer window, which runs from 2 January to 1 February 2021. Stuart McCall mentioned it in his comments to the T&A ahead of yesterday's match:

As the club knows so well from previous transfer windows, we can't start early enough lining up our potential recruits!

We're in for Messi, Ronaldo and Salah I've heard. All depends on whether Mama Mias can deliver the right pizzas on time.

Interesting that Stuart has brought it up so early, particularly as he said just a few weeks ago Samuels was the 'final piece of the jigsaw'. I am actually quite heartened he has because if he seriously doesnt think he can improve this team then we are in trouble! Also interesting he mentioned there is adequate money in the pot to do this - did not sound like we would be scraping up the last bits of spare change

I've read comments elsewhere on social media where fans are happy for consolidation and to not bother with the January transfer window. I can't believe what i'm reading, like soehow its acceptable just to make the numbers up in the khazi league. Makes you feel quite deflated as a fan reading that sort of acceptance of mediocrity. For crying out loud, regardless of covid, there's a promotion available for 4 clubs. Some may not care for getting out of this division but i do.

    Edited for you
It's important to TARGET players and then when they don't come say
    "I couldn't drag them here"

Yup, be a real positive - and you never know How! So many contracts are coming to an end and there will be a deluge of players without work next summer so wouldnt rule anything out

This January's transfer window could be very different from the usual ones for a couple of reasons:
    • Many club's will be short of money, due to current events; and
    • Many club's will have no room for manoeuvre, as they will be spent up to, or close to, the salary cap.
It will be interesting to see if some clubs are desperate to offload players, so much so, that they may be willing to part with players that they wouldn't usually let go in January.

We’ve written off this season. We won’t be doing any business of note in January.

Did the gaffer really say "bring in two or three players IF needed"- he is a funny guy, as if he hasn't noticed.

Another January transfer window, cant be as bad as the last few years,

Rupp, rhodes and McCall sez Hold My Beer*
    * only one pint between them as City are cutting their cloth/Tinpot etc!!

I think it may well be a difficult transfer window.

My view is we are short of around three players at the very least.

However who is going to want to come to a club that is 16th and nine points away from an automatic promotion place?

Players with ambition, and seeking the prospect of a promotion bonus, may look at City and say that they are likely to be, ‘also rans’, and have little prospect of significant success this season.

We have 10 League games between now and the transfer window.

Last season when we had played 21 matches we were fifth on 36 points.

Plymouth and Northampton who were the lowest two teams that got promoted, were on 35 points.

So a minimum of say 22 points from the next 10 games, could see us in a position where we could attract some motivated and quality players. Less than that and we could end up with older journeymen, or young and untried players (who we have enough of in my opinion).

    Can we get 22 points?
