True but if the annual salary cap budget includes an estimate of committed expenditure then saving that 20% (to carry on your example) might mean an extra few thousand in the budget.

Does the committed salary cap spend estimate also include whatever we budgeted for win bonuses at the start of the season? If so, we're probably well down on that and can probably spend more than we thought at the start of the season!!!

With furlough extended to April, can we take an option of furloughing certain players? Would this help towards the salary cap.... or if not, at least save the club a few quid?

I assume that it must allow for win/goal/assist/clean sheet etc bonuses. I am sure I read that there was a flexible 5% overspend before tarrifs were imposed. I guess that allowed for extraordinary circumstances, perhaps with runaway winners scoring massive amounts of goals. In City’s case it would seem to allow some leeway so that they could either offer higher bonuses or offer incoming players higher basic salaries. Psychologically it may be better to increase Win/Goal/Assist/Clean sheet bonuses for the whole team, so as to ‘incentivise’ them all.

If paul hurst is looking like the manager were getting, was thinking was there any free agents he could bring in to improve the team and 1 name popped up which I will get hammered for due to him being another ex city player but tom adeyemi was at Ipswich under paul hurst and is now a free agent due to recovering from hamstring injury but hes got to be better than what we have

If we have any money to spend aswell I'd be going for josh falkingham harrogate town captain, he dominated the midfield against us and actually put a tackle in. 6 months left on deal, hope this is what the ellusive recruitment man will be looking at

for me the spine of the team is what needs sorting to get us through to the end of the season. centre half, centre mid and centre forward. we have some good players but none of them reliable enough to build the team around at present. If Sutton can keep himself on the pitch regularly I think that will be a big difference too, as he's the only ball winner we have in midfield.

going to be a big challenge no doubt and its pretty much entirely our own fault. having said that on the back of the last couple of games I'm not as worried as I am if we can't get everyone, so long as we can get one or two in capable of making a difference.

We need another centre back who can challenge the O'Connors

If we're looking to stay up then we could do better than spend money on 18/36 month contracts on players now when we'll have more choice in the summer so I'd then go for more options up the pitch with pace/wingers because that's where we lack.

Are we realistically going to get into the play offs? If we think so then let's go for it. If not then let's not over spend and over commit on average players on long term contracts and find players that will help us stay up and do an overhaul in the summer.

I don't think we can still get in the playoffs but we are only 13 points off them which is half a point a game. Who knows.

I agree we need proper wingers with pace and a couple of decent strikers to help the burden on Novak. Would get rid of DMH Ismail Guthrie to start with.

There's a very good centre half sat on his backside doing nothing at Oldham which I would definitely go for.
