No chance of him returning. I would definitely have him back though. I suspect he will have a queue of league 1 clubs vying for his signature

Bowyer didn't rate him so he has no chance in coming back here and I doubt he would want to play div 2 football.

    So forget it. Move on!

Thought he was a very good technical player, but he failed to track back on many occasions which resulted in goals. Luxury player for league two, he would be no good in this pub league.

Would I take Jack Payne back? Absolutely!

He’ll sign for a Championship side (Barnsley), because that’s his level. But some City fans won’t take him in L2.

Not the type of player you need when the going gets tough. I wouldn't have him back in League 1 never mind League 2.
It was an expensive make adjusting his loan wages, we could have used that money on getting a couple of very good players in positions we needed.

Jack Payne isn’t the type of character to suit league 2 at all. Ego was too big in the end, became difficult to manage. Plus £12k a week puts him in the championship or the likes of Portsmouth or Sunderland, if they stay down. Rather have Ball but again, too costly.

I agree with them he wasn’t a team player,a lightweight and had little influence on the team other than one month in December. After which he took his bat home. The money he would cost would be far better spent elsewhere

Through all the hype as soon as we were paying him the equivalent of half a million a year he got lazy. Not the kind of character we need

On both points, I was discussing them with a few fellow Bantams, in April .............
I firstly questioned his technical ability - Latterly, whilst being double marked out of a game .......He failed to take those same markers out of the game (shifting wide, say), allowing for his team mates to take advantage of the numbers.
And we all agreed, that defensively, he was below what we expected. There was no drive or passion, in that part of his game. I posted on here at the time, the loan fees we were paying, made him a luxury we could do without.
A very decent League one player, and far too good (and expensive) for League 2.

Imagine in him a McCall team who could keep the ball. That’s all I say. Fantastic technical player and sadly someone we will not see at VP any time soon

Can’t knock his effort for us. Scored plenty of goals and assists in the worst side ever at VP. Didn’t have a great finish to the season but at least he turned up for 2/3’s of it unlike the rest who didn’t even bother

No one knows what went on? So I will judge him on is Oxford days and Bradford appearances. Superb player and he will get a good club.

I suppose his influence from the bench in the 28 times he featured for Huddersfield, resulting in them achieving promotion to the Premier League doesn’t count? If you took the time to read reviews from Huddersfield fans, you’ll know just how instrumental his efforts were.

His release doesn’t really come as a shock. They have shit loads of coin and can now sign better. Bolly for them.
