Exactly. You have to commend the FA for the stance they've taken. Both Israeli and Palestinian victims will be remembered at Wembley tonight, people shouldn't be forced to chose sides in a conflict that is so complex.

Poor show from a good articulate poster like yourself feeling the need to edit Mrs O's post, because it didn't suit your narrative

This is now a far bigger problem than just Israel/Palestine, it's now sprouted wings in a lot of countries with unrest potential a real possibility in a lot of countries with open borders. Only places safe from it are the likes of Poland and Hungary where nationalistic pride takes precedence.

There were many ppl throughout the world who supported what Germany were doing to the Jews in the 1930’s. By the time the World woke up millions of Jews were dead or no homeland. My father never recovered from one of many soldiers who had to clear the concentration camps, his soul was permanently damaged.

Within the space of a week the terrible violence perpetrated on Israeli is being silenced or sidelined with the inevitable but….

Does Israel have right to protect their citizens?

They have decided that they do?

Whenever war is started innocent civilians on both sides will die. The hostages that Hamas took may well die in the attacks on the Gaza. We have city within a city in the Gaza, with Hamas like the cowards they are using both the Palestine and Israeli hostages as a human shield and cowering underground.

Politics have so far failed to establish any meaningful dialogue as polarised positions have been taken.

For clarity both Palestine and Israel have the right to exist. They have to go forward harping back to how both states came about will most certainly see this war and violence continue. It will require two nation states who have no skin in the game to help both nations in my view. The rest of the Arab world are also going to give Israel reassurances that they accept Israel as a nation state. I find it interesting that Israel and Saudi were just about to sign a trading deal.

When one seeks world domination. It will eliminate anything in its park to fulfill that aim. Easy to see the plan if you know what to look for, some don't realise it and some choose to ignore it at their peril.

And the bottom line is, 99.9% of the people who die on 'both sides' will be everyday, decent folks who just want to live their lives in peace, according to whatever values or beliefs they may have but behind which, leave us all one and the same.

Probably not as he talks about Islamic nations armies stepping in and carefully skirts around what he really means.

Certainly of recent events over the confusing conrext of Jihad are anything to go by then the police or government don't look like they have any powers to intervene.

Ah yes, we've seen the met police in London last week pontificate about the complexities of what 'Jihad' means. Seems we are lead to believe that what it really means is just 'having a quiet word' with infidels and not what I originally thought.

That's so true. But what we have here is somebody poking the tiger in the cage at the zoo with lots of families close by and the cage is unlocked. The person with the stick manages to get away and it's the many families who have their lives destroyed.

    It really is horrific.

On the steps of City Hall.

Will our spineless Police, council or local newspaper say anything?

    We know the answer.

You're being very hopeful of any kind of intervention by the UN. Action of this kind requires the agreement of the UN Security Council. There was a proposal by the UN to introduce some kind of interim truce but it was vetoed by a member of the Security Council - the US. Without the agreement of all permanent members of the SC - which includes both the US and Russia - it can't happen.

Since the UN was created just after WW2, they have been impotent in matters affecting Israel. They failed to introduce a Palestinian homeland as they were obliged to do when Israel was created which remains as one of the major reasons for past bloodshed and today's fighting. They failed to intervene when Israel refused to give back land to Jordan, Syria and Egypt after Israel had occupied it with force in the Six Day war. They failed to intervene when Israel began to build towns and villages on the occupied lands despite that being illegal under international law. They'll do nothing on any consequence in this current crisis.

Nothing will happen if left to the UN. And nothing will improve until a proper Palestinian homeland has been created. The leadership of Hamas don't reside in Gaza; they are being hosted in great luxury in Qatar. For me, that should be the first calling place if there is to be a solution to Gaza. But it will require enormous amounts of diplomacy with other powers in the area and I don't underestimate the enormous difficulties. In reality, there is no simple solution until Israel has eradicated Hamas and calls a halt to its own bombing. Regrettably it will result in many more deaths of civilians in Gaza before that happens.

I'm a bit ambiguous toward Armistice day, the whole poppy thing and watching royals lay wreaths while emblazoned with garish medals and military regalia has never sat right with me. That said, i've never had anything but admiration for our armed services, gives me a sense of pride seeing young men and women turn from youngsters into proud members of society, compare that to the feral scum that currently walk our street and terrorise every day folk. And as such my views are this 'protest march' should never have been allowed to go ahead on the 11th. Its been deliberately done to cause division, nothing else. I'd have had a modicum of respect for them if they'd chosen say, next week, as their own mark of respect. But just like those stop oil winkers, they have no respect for anyone else. Respect for others quickly becoming a forgotten trait in society.

You do realise that the cowardly terrorists (whom brutally raped, tortured, beheaded many women and children) are hiding amongst the general public, instead of fighting their aggressors.

Nobody wants civilian deaths but unfortunately it has to be expected in a war, especially when the cowards are hiding amongst the public. It's basically Hamas who are to blame for the deaths.

Madness, isn't it? But then, you're talking about a country that will happily put illegal immigrants up in hotels whilst leaving veterans homeless on the streets.

I'm thoroughly against the situation in Gaza/Israel ATM, not wishing for the unnecessary deaths on both sides.

That said, the union or St George's should fly proudly from our governmental buildings.
Whilst I understand it was for 24 hours to raise monies for aid, it sets a poor narrative to the Jewish and wider community.

Just seen it has cost the Met almost £40m to police the dozen or so large scale protests so far regarding the war in Gaza. Surely at some point organisers of protests should be made to pay for the extra policing required just like organisers of other events that require extra police. It can not be fair that the tax payers of London have to foot the bill to police the demos.

edit - and just to be clear this would go for all protests/demonstrations.

Some pretty one dimensional comments on here tbh.
I’m not condoning what Hamas have just done at all. But if Israel hadn’t been illegally occupying their country and systematically persecuting their citizens for decades then support for desperate measures like this would soon wither away.
There are internationally agreed borders which Israel refuses to accept. All the while they continue to illegally colonise a neighbouring country there will never be peace, and horrific violence (by both sides) will continue.

Its certainly a very complex situation over there, always has been, and no doubt will always be so.

I hope the Israeli regime can root out the evil leaders of Hamas without any more innocent Palestinians been killed, but a tall order I guess.

The support and celebrations by some on UK's streets since Saturday of the Hamas barbaric attacks is truly sickening. They are not welcome in our country.
