Jesus wept! Read the thread FFS. From my post #463 above:
“I unequivocally condemn the horrendous atrocity committed by Hamas last year and also their murderous ideology, which doesn’t care how many people (Jews or Muslims) who die because of its actions.”
Which bit of that didn’t you understand?

Have you seen the C4 documentary about Orania?

Without a huge drawn out debate over the rights and wrongs it did look like a very tight community, one that seemed peaceful, very low on crime and everyone pulling in the same direction to grow the town.

I just mentioned it as kind of backs up your past couple of thoughts on the issue.

Sorry, but that's simply not true. If you look back at my earlier posts in this thread you'll see that I've been very keen to present a balanced approach to this highly complex issue. I've posted articles written by Jewish journalists which give various perspectives, including those of Israeli people who understandably feel besieged and under constant threat. It's very clear to me that there is fault and suspicion on both sides and holding simplistic ideas of one or the other being solely responsible just reinforces the divisions and prejudices.

There is not one part of me that supports anything that Hamas has done. But I can understand why many Palestinians give them and Hezbollah their support - because they see them as the only people who are doing anything to defend them from Israel's incessant incursions into their territories, especially the West Bank. There are daily atrocities going on there, encouraged by Netanyahu's horrible government (in thrall to ultra-orthodox Jewish groups who are every bit as fundamentalist in their beliefs as Hamas) and supported militarily by the IDF. I can understand the reluctance of some Israelis, but unless and until there is a recognised, established Palestinian state there will be no peace. Israel will never eradicate Hamas by force, but support for them would eventually wither on the vine if there were an agreed and established homeland for Palestinians.

So The UN Security council have now called for a ceasefire and immediate release of all hostages.

I'm guessing Isreal will ignore it and will be called out worldwide for not stopping the bombardments etc but will Hamas take note of it and release all hostages immediately and if not will they be called out too?

Hamas won't release the hostages so Israel will continue the bombardment and Hamas will use that as an excuse not to release the hostages ....... And so on, and so on is my guess.

Reading today that the Palestine flag has been flying from Luton Town Hall this week.

Absolutely disgraceful. Should be our own country's flag flying from the mast.

I'm thoroughly against the situation in Gaza/Israel ATM, not wishing for the unnecessary deaths on both sides.

That said, the union or St George's should fly proudly from our governmental buildings.
Whilst I understand it was for 24 hours to raise monies for aid, it sets a poor narrative to the Jewish and wider community.

they raise the flag of every visiting High Commissioner, so each Commonwealth country gets once a year, if they attend every year. Nothing new, nothing strange just that some people like to make things out of stuff that happens all the time. Some were claiming it had happened during Holy Week, again wrong.

not sure if other countries raise our flag when our High Commisioner visit but it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.

The depths of Israel, killing and maming thousands of innocent life's for months, displacement, genocide and now "unintentionally" hitting an aid ship, killing 7 innocent aid workers together with adding to the hunger and starvation of 10, 000s of persecuted Gazans....

    Shame on you Israel.

The world leaders need hugely to ramp up the pressure and take decisive action on Netanyahu, rather than words of outraged and heartbroken, appalled, increasingly intolerable, completely unacceptable and add to the concern.

Tony, not for 1 second do I believe the attack on Israel was a deliberate act. That I have no doubt. And it was WRONG. Innocent life's were lost. Unnecessarily.

That said, I cannot accept the continued lose of life of innocent people, starvation, displacement, some 179vdays on whilst our world leaders fail to take action

Hypocrisy in the highest degree UK and America and many western countries calling for a cease fire whilst selling them arms, very similar to Iran arming Hamas and the Houthi rebels, we live in a very sad world where human life means little or nothing.

When put into simple words commerce drives the world.

Money/ wealth is all that matters, history ignores all other definitions.

Religion is only a uniform to describe which "team" you play for.

Excellent point Dave, everyone loves taking the moral highground when it suits them but cross their palms with lovely silver and gold and they'll do full about turn.

We are selling arms to help one of our allies defend itself.

Hamas and many other surrounding nations would happily wipe Israel off the face of the map if they thought Israel didn't have the firepower to defend itself.

Sad 6 month anniversary by the way today.

I'm not disagreeing just pointing out that when losing money comes into the equation we tend to forget what those weapons are doing, yes your quite right Iran and the likes will be more than happy to supply Hamas and the other Middle Eastern terrorist groups with weapons as well as trading them how to use them.
Trump was right when he said the EU and other countries were giving Iran far too much slack with regards the agreement to inspect their plants generating uranium, and we should put more sanctions on Iran.
Since the demise of the nuclear accord, Iran has said it is enriching uranium up to 60%, though inspectors recently discovered the country had produced uranium particles that were 83.7% pure. That is just a short step from reaching the 90% threshold of weapons-grade uranium.

Genuine questions to those who support what Israel is currently doing in Gaza:

How many (mostly innocent civilian) Palestinians does Israel have to kill before its response to the October Hamas atrocities becomes disproportionate?

    Is there no limit?

Would the number be different if they weren’t Muslims?
