This could turn into WW3. I genuinely fear that possibility.

This is now a far bigger problem than just Israel/Palestine, it's now sprouted wings in a lot of countries with unrest potential a real possibility in a lot of countries with open borders. Only places safe from it are the likes of Poland and Hungary where nationalistic pride takes precedence.

Spent some time in Poland recently.

So impressed with the obvious nationalistic pride their citizens have. The country also seem to be well on top of law and order, unlike here.

It was a pleasure to visit.

Credit to the Guardian for sacking their cartoonist Steve Bell for his antisemitic cartoons. That said, they shouldn't have been published in the first place

Poke the bear long enough and it will retaliate with vengeance, reading the situation I believe its as much to destroy the underground tunnels etc and the like Hamas has built over the years but they certainly won't pussy foot about destroying them little of the present infrastructure will remain hence why they have asked those areas to be evacuated.
Their was a news clip on the other night where it showed a Palestinian man distraught with the devastation around him quite possibly lost his family and he was not merely questioning why Israel did what they did but why Hamas started it on his/Palestinians behalf, Hamas came into power in 2005 winning governance of the West Bank and never had any elections since, and yes the Israelis are as bad but they get the chance to elect another party in if they do not agree with what's happening, shame they brought Benjamin Netanyahu back.
I don't think we are on the verge of World War three the reason being for all Putin's bluff he realises the consequences of such a thing, I honestly don't believe even North Korea or China would start it, but fortunately the one country I do believe could start it is Iran not sure at present they have the capability but I certainly believe they are in number one spot to do it.

Hamas is a terrorist organisation and Israel rightly wants to destroy it. But launching their weaponry on civilians in Gaza isn't how to do it. Terrorists are terrorists because they attack civilians and civilian infrastructure and Israel military is attacking in that same manner. There isn't much difference other than Israel's wear military uniforms. If Israel wants to undermine or defeat Hamas, go after their leadership and cut the head off the organisation. Unfortunately, the Hamas leadership isn't stupid and have based themselves in 5 Star luxury in Qatar well away from the chaos of Gaza and the immediate reach of Israel.

To me, this has all the signs of escalating if Israel continues to attack innocent civilians.

See, this is one of the problems. Anything critical of Netanyahu or his government is immediately seized upon and labelled as anti-Semitic even when it clearly isn’t. The cartoon (not cartoons) in question is actually a reference to a historic cartoon of US President Lyndon Johnson with a scar of the map of Vietnam on his torso. It’s nothing to do with Shylock.
In order to get genuine dialogue on the Israel/Palestine issue we have to be able to be critical of Israeli government policy/actions that persecute innocent Palestinian citizens without being accused of antisemitism. Criticism of the Israeli government is not the same as antisemitism and does not in any way imply support for Hamas and it’s appalling crimes.

The biggest joke about all this is that everyone already knows the Hamas leaders are in Qatar.

There were many ppl throughout the world who supported what Germany were doing to the Jews in the 1930’s. By the time the World woke up millions of Jews were dead or no homeland. My father never recovered from one of many soldiers who had to clear the concentration camps, his soul was permanently damaged.

Within the space of a week the terrible violence perpetrated on Israeli is being silenced or sidelined with the inevitable but….

Does Israel have right to protect their citizens?

They have decided that they do?

Whenever war is started innocent civilians on both sides will die. The hostages that Hamas took may well die in the attacks on the Gaza. We have city within a city in the Gaza, with Hamas like the cowards they are using both the Palestine and Israeli hostages as a human shield and cowering underground.

Politics have so far failed to establish any meaningful dialogue as polarised positions have been taken.

For clarity both Palestine and Israel have the right to exist. They have to go forward harping back to how both states came about will most certainly see this war and violence continue. It will require two nation states who have no skin in the game to help both nations in my view. The rest of the Arab world are also going to give Israel reassurances that they accept Israel as a nation state. I find it interesting that Israel and Saudi were just about to sign a trading deal.

I absolutely agree with the post but the overriding feeling is that the extreme lefties literally invented playing the race card by labelling any questioning of policy as racism.

They surely can't be too surprised to see it come back and bite them on the arse when wanting to question policy elsewhere.

It feels a bit like "you reap what you sow" even if it's in the best interests of absolutely no one in the long term.

That's what happens when you don't just allow anyone and everyone in from all faiths and backgrounds creating a completely unidentifiable circus-like society guised under the false pretence of joyful 'multiculturalism' - when in reality all it does is divide further

Like you, I don't find it coincidental at all that Hamas commenced their attack on Israel just as Saudi and Israel were on the verge of signing their agreement which among the trade details would also have resulted in Saudi for the first time recognising Israel as a sovereign state. Unfortunately there are other players in the area which wanted to undermine that position. The likes of Iran and Qatar remain opposed to the recognition of Israel and of course provide funding and support to both Hamas and Hezbollah. It will really kick off on a much wider scale if Hezbollah or some other Iran supported militia joins the fray. There are already some reports of Hezbollah having attacked northern Israel from within Lebanon. I doubt that would have been orchestrated without Iran having given the go ahead.

I recently watch several holocaust documentaries, when the Jewish people got word out with regards what was going on in the likes of Dachau and killing camps like Chelmno, Beizec Sobibor, and Treblinka they sent a delegation to Churchill and other top rankers asking for the RAF to bomb these camps as it would be a far better end for those Jewish inmates within these camps than the way they would eventually die, tortured, medical experimentation gassed or starved to death.
The British turned it down because if the information was not as said the and the RAF wiped out these camps the British government could/would be classed as anti semitic supporters.
Imagine not making that call at the time only to find it was actual far worse than the original information give by that Jewish delegation.

Some is obviously ok. Not to the point where White British people make up literally 36% of our capital city.
