Tell you what ,this country is far more interested in washing clean Roubles than chasing some poor soul watching Love Island at Three on a Saturday afternoon!

The myth is that it is a UEFA ruling that no matches played between 2.45pm and 5.15pm on Saturdays can be televised. That hasn't stopped German, French and Italian clubs from televising their Saturday games.

The reality is that the FA, the FL and now the PL refused to allow Saturday games to be televised right back in the 60's. It was Bob Lord, then chairman of Burnley who got the other football club chairmen to agree not to allow TV broadcasting on Sat afternoons! They feared that TV would endanger the clubs' finances and hurt them in their pockets. Bob Lord even prohibited MoTD from being shown on TV at Turf Moor! Big clubs still seem to fear TV broadcasting and yet the experience of clubs in Germany etc don't bear that out.

The current arrangements are madness denyingmany clubs an opportunity to make some money and denying their fans the opportunity to watch their team on the box. It's about time imo the clubs had a major rethink on this.

Couldn't agree more. Because of my work and home situation, I'll get to very few away games this season. But would more than happily pay 1follow or whoever to watch games live, if City was getting some financial benefit from it. Can't understand why it's not happening.

So would I, these hyped up so called big games are nearly always a bore fest and even if it’s Man Utd v Real Madrid on a Tuesday night I’d still rather watch us play Newport in a league 2 game.

    So Scottish Independence hangs on:

    Cons
Loss of income from Barnett Formula
Wouldn't be able to use the pound
EU unlikely to accept yet another "net taker" as a member after losing the English contribution
Can't realistically fund increased benefits they want, free university and free prescriptions
Worst cancer diagnosis/ treatment stats in Western Europe
Biggest drug issue in Western Europe
Strong possibility of RBS/ HBOS & Standard Life relocating to London
Faslane Nuclear base will be transferred to Plymouth
Potential PM looks and acts like Jimmy Krankie
North Sea Oil revenues predicted to run out in ten years

    Pros
Scottish Football fans can get Ifollow

So let me get this clear. I have VPN on my laptop and my location is currently shown as London (Optimal). If I change my location to Paris, which is easy to do, then am I right in thinking that I can log into IFollow and pick up the match through the City Website/ EFL IFollow site ?

The EFL have their heads in the sand. All they have to do is learn the lesson from the music industry circa 2000 when everyone was illegally downloading music via torrents. The music labels and the legitimate streaming services (Spotify etc.) came together and eradicated illegal music downloading.

Don't get me wrong there were other problems that came out of the back of that (artists not getting revenue from album sales like before being the main one) but the principle is still the same: if fans are already finding ways of streaming for free (or cheaper by using VPNs and paying £6 rather than £10 per match) then they should stop swimming against the tide and embrace iFollow and run it the right way.

When all the PL games were shown live on Sky last season there were plenty of 3pm KO but they never once stopped me from watching City on iFollow. As long as the only 3pm PL games broadcast were the last pick games e.g. Norwich v Palace (no disrespect to fans of either) then I don't see a problem. I can't see someone not going to a game or buying an iFollow pass for their own EFL team because Brentford v Watford is on telly at the same time?

Whether you agree with this approach or not unfortunately if you cannot attend for whatever reason and want to watch matches dialling in via a VPN is the only option. I will be watching from Apperley Bridge via Paris!

    Thanks. Yes, that makes sense.
As @Clity@Clity said above, why would the club or the EFL be bothered? The clubs are getting money they wouldn't otherwise get.

If they did that then almost certainly the 3PM TV blackout from PL clubs would cease as the whole argument for why the EFL needs that goes out of the window (It, after all, exists to protect the important income generated from casual fans. That would leave most if not all clubs out of pocket as fans of PL clubs who attend lower league matches as they can't get a ticket for their actual team or just the casual fans who don't really have a team but want to watch some football could now just watch 3PM TV game rather than the lower league team

There must be hundreds of fans who cannot go to matches for whatever reason would pay to watch on iFollow given the chance, Easy money just waiting
