I used a VPN for the Exeter game from my normal account with the location set as Switzerland and it didn't work at first but guessing it was because I turned the VPN on after logging in, when I put the VPN on then loaded up the city website to log in it worked fine.

 

yep the VPN has to be on from when you load the City page

If the VPN is affecting quality and speed just turn it off once the game starts. The stream will still work.

I cant see City or Ifollow being that bothered about the 'piracy' using VPNs. It provides both with money off the back of a ruling by the FA which only the FA seem to think is a good idea.

 

Is it best to set up a separate account for 'overseas' subscribing? Or can you just use your ordinary account via a VPN with impunity?

As @Clity said above, why would the club or the EFL be bothered? The clubs are getting money they wouldn't otherwise get.

 

Or a pre paid credit card and new email address to register to, Then use a VPN?

Yep but only put money on the ore paid credit card in cash not via transfer plus don’t open the email address ever without the VPN

Use your own account. Theres not a chance they can enforce this or by that matter prove you werent in the country that you have the VPN set up in.

In terms of actually setting up a VPN for those who may be super confused.

2. When you have NORDVPN setup you need to go to settings > auto connect > VPN Protocol > and choose 'open VPN (UDP)'. This allows you to pick a 'Double VPN' as suggested in the article but might not be available when you first load the VPN software.

3. When you choose two countries you can then load up the city website.

So far so good. I've managed to purchase a video pass for this afternoon's game via my Netgear VPN. Fingers crossed it works at 3pm.
Hopefully I'll be opening my beer from Spain.
