Would you say this is being responsible or incitement ?.

 

anyone with any sense can see thats an attempt to incite hatred. the issue around islamic extremists is that they will use any attempt at punishment as a way of making a martyr out of themselves so you have to be careful in how you go about punishing them, or you risk galvanising that movement further.

 

Without a doubt that was the intention.

 

I don’t attack or defend one party I sit firmly in the centre as far as politics go. I know racism isn’t confined to one race or community.
I don’t particularly like kneeling thing because it Glorifies George Floyd who didn’t deserve to die like he did but he has been convicted of violent crimes.
But anybody who thinks there isn’t racism In our society is burying their heads. And stunts like this help to prove it

 

I've not read one post on here who claims that, it also works both ways, but if the fly bye was incitement then the placards saying British soldiers burn in hell is far more inciting, but as we have discussed free speech that our nation is renowned for has to be defended no matter how inciting it is.

 

THE Burnley fan behind the 'White Lives Matter' banner has been sacked from his job.

Jake Hepple, 24, has had his employment at Paradigm Precision terminated even though police said "no criminal offences" were committed by his stunt.

 

Industrial tribunal here he comes.

 

I’m sure Tommy Robinson will give him a job as henchman.

 

As distasteful as this thing was, people are now losing their jobs more and more regularly for non criminal, expressions of opinion. This is the slippery slope we're on.

 

Couldn’t happen to a nicer man

 

Is it a case of his employer being mentioned so taking pre-emptive action to head off negative publicity? There's a lot of that happening over here. I know social media postings and getting fired from work have been discussed on here.

 

Nobody is forced to keep anyone in a job. If they don't want to employ him because they find his views distasteful that is entirely their prerogative as a private entity. Depending on how long he's been there they don't even have to have a reason for sacking him. We live in an age where employers will go through things like your social media so pulling stunts like this is doubly stupid on his part. Would you as a professional business owner want to have your brand associated with someone that does things like this?

 

As I say, it's a slippery slope. Theres lots of moral high ground being taken. I have no sympathy for the individual, but when people are sacked for opinions that dont break the law, I think it leads to a bad place. As I've said earlier, free speech is the cornerstone of democracy and it's being eroded. That worries me.

 

I would have sacked him too. But then again, I wouldn't have employed him in the first place, a convicted football hooligan who has served time

 

It’s free speech with responsibility he has had his say so has his partner and they are being judged on it and it has been found offensive

 

I dont really give a **** about this individual. It's the principle that concerns me. We now live in a world where employers can take a position on sacking people based on their subjective views on the non criminal, if distasteful behaviour of their employees. And in some cases, the distasteful aspect isnt even that significant. Slippery slope

 

Just to play Devil's Advocate for a moment, what if the person that organised this banner was your child's teacher. Would that change your opinion about their continuing employment?

 

What engineering company wants to have an employee on its books who admits to getting 'cocked up'?

 

The idiot has lost his job and will be banned from watching his team for life. I wonder if he thinks his stupid stunt was worth it now?

 

Ah, very good question. Because I've recently had an issue with the approach a teacher took in my daughters English class on the subject of BLM, which I've raised with the school and which they've acted on. And the crux is - I dont care about a teachers personal beliefs and opinions, as long as they dont colour the approach taken in the classroom. I'm a massive believer in teaching kids to think think critically and presenting a range of materials on any subject for kids to form their own opinions, which they can articulate reasoning behind.
