Gary Bowyer - manager next season

I'm I reading this correct ? That Rhodes has offered Bowyer the job permanent ? On what basis has he judged him ? Because thus far he has done absolutely nothing to show me he is the man to shovel us out of the sh1t ? He's failing the three basic tests I set him and that didn't include keeping us in League 1 !

Why suddenly is Rhodes rushing to hand him a permanent deal. There's still 7 games left of his audition.! Let's be honest we aren't going to get run over in the rush to appoint Gary Bowyer? There is and will be better options out there at the end of the season. Don't anyone tell me that Rhodes wants to get his man in so planning can start for the Dog n Gun League ? Because we will still be buggering around trying to sign L2/National League players three days before the Dark Age starts in August !

What gets me about Rhodes return is that when Rahic cleared off and he (Rhodes) ambled back in what the hell has done to ensure we didn't have to sink back into Dog n Gun League? There were ample games left and a month long transfer window to damn well make sure we stayed in this league ! ? But he /Rupp come up with none of the players Hopkin was carping on about that might have made a difference.! ? Many of the "happy clappers" are fooled by Rhodes time and again. He is the true History Maker so much so he's back to make history repeat itself at the helm and taking us into League 2 as he did over a decade ago. It starts and ends with Rhodes and this time he won't be so damn lucky !' There's no Parky ! no Cup Final !

They’ve not just been bad over half a dozen games, they’ve been bad for 3/4 quarters of a season. Bad for 3 different managers, lacked effort, only decided to speak to each other when Hopkin forced them to have a night out.

A bigger bunch of individual misfits I’m yet to see.

This squad IS as bad as it’s currently showing and to have any chance next season, we’ve got to get rid. If that means Rupp dipping further into his pocket, so be it.

 

But by the same token, if it’s the squad that are useless and the manager is in no way to blame, perhaps we should bring Collins back?

He collected 6pts from 6 games. Hopkin managed 27pts from 28 games. Drury 0 from 1 game. Bowyer currently has 3pts from 4 games.

Based on that, Collins has the best record of all the incumbents to the role, despite having to work under Rahic. So he managed to get more out of this waste of a wage squad than anyone.

 

Surely it’s better to start planning now rather than the end of the season. A new man comes in and spends 4 or 5 weeks trying to work out who to keep, not getting the chance to see them in competitive matches. Delaying recruitment until he decides, then it’s a mad rush to fill the gaps and we spend the first 10 games putting the best 11 together.

 

Why are you making that comparison? Huddersfield has just been promoted into the Premier League. Their fans will have hoped for a finish outside the bottom 3. Then, this season they will have hoped for a slightly better position than last. Why would they expect to win the league- that’s just stupid.

Whereas we keep getting told that we have a good squad of players and morale/confidence is low. Surely the manager should be able to get the best out of them? At the moment he isn’t and we will be relegated at the end of the season.

To then suggest we should be happy with a mid-table finish is plain and simply accepting mediocrity. Nothing to do with Huddersfield expecting to win the premier league.

 

His defensive partner and the left back being 2 obvious choices and then you have the likes of Wright and Reeves. Loads of shit without even looking

 

Two comments to make on this. I’ll start with the obvious... I think one person suggested Powell and even then, it was probably tongue-in-cheek.

Secondly and most importantly, you say we shouldn’t expect to finish in the top7. But then go on to state that this is EXACTLY what Bowyer managed at Blackpool despite needing the ‘full rebuild job’. So if you want him, why would you not expect him to deliver similar success?

 

That's my point ! Rhodes can hand Bowyer a contract now (though God knows what he's based that on ?) but he can and we will still be farting around in August trialing players and the clock running down to Dark Age football. If Bowyer gets it ?; it should be 1 year rolling and he walks if we are not in the top six in November !. Its a disgrace that we are a lower league club than the likes of Burton and Accrington let alone slumped mid to lower League 2 !??. Should be no two year contract ? one year and we get rid if its not working. We need to smash our way out of the Dog n Gun league !

Rolling contract seems a sensible option, whether Bowyer would go for it is another matter.
My understanding, he was sought out by Rhodes before Hopkin “left”, so he may well call the shots.
