Alternatively those in charge could see this as an ideal time for a cull of professional clubs, maybe cut a division

I hope you’re right with the summer hut think you’re being very optimistic.
I can’t see us going from another month or so of this lockdown to allowing 60000 plus people together in one place to watch a boxing match. It will be a slow releasing thing when we come out of lockdown. Cinemas allowed to reopen. Restaurants etc. Get them done first, assess the spread and then bigger sporting events to follow

I would like to see the premier league bubble burst. Clubs in league one spending 2 million over budget chasing a pipe dream for the big riches. And clubs lower down following that cycle of it doesn’t work sack everyone sign a load of new players like they do at the top. They can afford to do that and we cannot but still try.
If it levelled off in some way would be nice

Completely agree. It'll be autumn at the earliest before mass gatherings are allowed. Possibly even next year. The relaxing of social restrictions will prioritise the return of schools and businesses that can't work from home, small scale restaurants and leisure pursuits, then all businesses and gyms. Large scale gatherings will be the last thing to come back

Agreed - including a normalization of ticket prices.

Matchroom boxing had two key boxing matches in May and both have been rearranged for July. The boxing board would have been taking to the government mate and July would have been an ok date(for now).

All so far the British F1 is still on which is in July.

However, your point makes talking about next season seem even more stupid because we just don't know what's what and talking about something that can be moved and hasn't started is just pointless.

Those wanting to just think about next season have an agenda. No reason we why next cant end this season before the start of next or just finish this.

I admire Liverpool, Leeds, Coventry and Swindon throughout all this because these clubs are staying quiet and not driving agenda's and I hate praising Leeds but it's true. I have had my run ins with @Swindon@Swindon @Swindon_1969@Swindon_1969 ans @Wellens’balls@Wellens’balls etc but their club is acting classy at this moment.

The fair thing is to end the season no matter when that is!

Not convinced as like I say Boxing due to start in July.

However, if you're unfortunately right then yes we will be looking at next year which puts massive question marks on football in general for 12 months, so behind closed doors as to be discussed and seriously looked at for all sports barring tennis and a few others.

I just can't see the Tv and Bookies just sitting down and waiting for a year for sport to start. It's not going to happen.

Match room Boxing still have two fights down as June too, including Joshua v Pulev so I wouldn’t put much emphasis on their current schedule

That's June and still in their for now unlikely because football might be back in some fashion but an alternative date is already in for that fight.

The change for May to July would have been discussed with the government.

Sporting bodies will be talking to the government on a regular basis.

Oh I am not but it something to hang on too and as I say the boxing board would be talking to the government. I like to think the lockdown will be over by July mate.

We need a distraction now from this virus. Sport needs to start up soon.

I don’t think the government will have said to them June/July. If that was the case thinks like Wimbledon and Edinburgh Fringe would be fine too

Wimbledon and Edinburgh Fringe both count on people travelling all from all over the world.

All sports will be talking to the government but the government won't come out and say anything because we have to stay inside.

Wimbledon counts on people taking part from all over the world. It's a logistical nightmare at this moment and that's why it's cancelled. F1 races might also get cancelled If the same reasons as Wimbledon.

All Sporting bodies will be in communication with the government. Boxing haven't just rearranged the dates in July for nothing.

Also the government or sporting bodies won't come and to say yeah we should rocking and rolling come June/July when they want us to stay inside.

The boxing dates might change again but we all can't stay inside forever.

Not just about next season Fordy, it's about reality. See my post 33 above. This season ends with no more games played. New season 20/21 starts 21st November.

I'd have to assume that the message into any sporting bodies will be the same as anywhere else - 3-6 months before restrictions are removed or significantly eased. And you can't just turn the sports industries back on either. Athletes will need to ramp up their training and the support system around sports events will need a bit of time. Probably another month to go from 'crack on' to actually being able to run serious events.

That seems realistic to me too. Allows for broadly the upper end of social restrictions being removed, allows for planning and the period of mobilization to get things back to normal. i.e. 'pre season' to start in early October, which would be the upper 6 month marker for when things will apparently 'get back to normal'.

As @Dennis@Dennis said earlier it is isn’t going to get back to normal for a lot of us until a vaccine is found because the virus is going to continue circulating

Quite right Park. The impacts will last for a long while. And even 'normal' is probably going to be different for a long, long period of time.
