No I am not contradicting myself as some players have contributed a lot but don't tell people to take a pay cut.

Matt Hankcock can't even get tests out to NHS and save lives! The man is a joke!

    Footballers are doing their bit.

If he'd swerved the question, you'd have moaned. If he'd said that players shouldn't take a pay cut, you'd have moaned, he says what he does - you moan.

His point was spot on. This is a global challenge, everyone is being asked to make a sacrifice to the 'cause' and he was wasnt asked whether 'players should take a pay cut'. He was asked 'is it moral that premier league footballers refuse a pay cut at a time where clubs are putting non playing staff into furlough'. His answer was clear and he took a position that most if not all would take given the context of the question.

So go on then Fordy. What's your answer to the question he was asked?

"I can't tell people to take a pay cut in any job and the UK has many wealthy people in all different Industries not just football and we should all do our bit, as we are in this together. We can all do things in different ways to help out but I must stress and I know it's difficult the main things are to stay at home, social distancing and wash your hands"

His point wasn't spot on. PL players get paid well but so does he. Don't just answer straight when you dodge every other question about failing in testing.

Stockbrokers, business owners, financial people - lots of people get paid well mate don't just take aim at footballers.

No one should have to take a pay cut. He just needs to concentrate on getting testing done.

Nice cut and paste job. So you'd have swerved it. Yet you criticise any politician who does the same

'No one should have to take a pay cut', but just a few posts ago you stated that Boris and Hancock should do just that.

There you have it. You dont stick to a position, you just like to throw stones.

No, cut and paste. They're my thoughts on how I wouldn't have answered that question.

I was pointing out that Boris and Hancock haven't talent a pay cut. Don't see the Queen offering anything either.

Take that blue tie off mate, it's no time the time. It's about getting results.

Their PR team would have made it clear.

Either way mate it's up to them.

But you quoted " some players have contributed a lot but don't tell people to take a pay cut", not if they did it anonymously as you suggested above .

I'm not asking how you think he should have answered it. Or how you'd answer it as a politician. I'm asking for your specific answer to the question he was given. Which was:

Is it morally right for premier league players to refuse wage cuts whilst their non playing staff colleagues are furloughed?

Premier league players earn obscene amounts of money and the state shouldn’t be giving them a penny. Collectively they should help to pay the wages of non playing staff at the clubs

Boris and Hancock earn in a year what most Prem footballers earn in a month. Whats your point?

Don't tell people they should take a pay cut when you're not doing it yourself.

    That's the point.

How does PL players taking pay cuts make it better?

Point is if the government are taking pay cuts then find but they're not, so don't say what others should do.

I think the PFA threw the players under the bus but don't he shouldn't comment when he's failing in his own job at the minute.

Whatever your take on it, in respect of politics, then Johnson is still actually doing what he is paid to do, which is act as Prime Minister. Footballers are paid to play football, they are not doing this at the minute.

Just to be clear, Under new rules from March 1 and running for at least three months, companies can “furlough” employees rather than fire them. Through the scheme, the government will pay up to 80 per cent of a persons wages, up to a maximum of £2,500 per month. So if footballers are furloughed, then irrespective of the level they play at or the salary they are on, then there is a defined ceiling of £2,500. I guess that is more than sufficient for most City players, to live on. I agree that many Premiership players are paid obscene amounts. Perhaps the PFA can give them interest free loans if they face financial difficulty? Remember the PFA has an annual turnover and net asset position of circa £24million and £48million respectively, putting the union in a strong financial position!

the clubs could then make up the rest of their wages above £2500 pm. But I don’t think the large clubs named are doing that, as far as I’m aware they are not furloughing the players.

I would if City are topping up the players wages

Plenty around the country are still doing their job and have taken a pay cut! Nothing to stop Boris and rest of them taking a pay cut mate.
