But he didn't say that. He challenged the language being used and likened it to that used in 1930s Germany. The approach to demonise people and to dehumanise them. Using words like 'invasion' and 'swarms' is exactly the kind of wording employed in 1930s Germany for minority groups who subsequently suffered terribly.

Although I profoundly disagree with our current Government, I am not for one minute suggesting, nor was Gary Lineker imo, that they are Nazi's. However, one could argue for parallels in language employed about people that those in power object to.

It doesn't matter if it's ridiculous or not though. He should be able to give his opinion without trying to be silenced or forced to apologise.

Comparisons with Nazi Germany are stupid. The Government policy is stupid, but they know what they're doing, divide and win more support from the right. They know what they're trying to do is illegal, it will never happen but it will win them votes for next year's election.

Sorry I disagree on this I don’t really agree with Lineker but as a freelance presenter he is entitled to air his views as is everybody else. This really an instance of some the seriously Woke stuff going on at the moment

Not if Lineker had signed a contract with the BBC with regards his political comments not the first time, and that looks to be the case, a pathetic comment that the British government could be classed in the same category as Nazi Germany in the 30s the mans a clown.

For those who think this is just about impartiality... do you think if Lineker posted something along the lines of "It's about time we took control of our borders after Brexit", in regard to the new bill, he'd be getting treat the same by the Government and the Beeb?

Braverman would have re-tweeted it within seconds.

But he didn't, he compared the UK government with the Nazis party in Germany during the 30s, it was a stupid uncalled for remark but he's allowed to say it as we allow people the right of free speech in this country.
In July 1932, the Nazi Party became the largest political party in the Reichstag with 230 representatives, and we all know what happened once they came to power, is that really a comparison.

Language is being weaponised on the left and right. Common sense is st risk of becoming extinct. The whole thing is madness. People shouldn't be losing their jobs for airing opinions. Applies similarly to the likes of Lineker as it does the likes of Le Tissier.

I don't do twitter so not sure if the above is genuine or a false account but Mark Hughes is employed by Bradford City and IMO he and the players should give their usual post match interviews to us Bradford City fans that's a part of their jobs, How long will this fiasco last if the BBC don't back down or actually sack Lineker if he's been found to have broken the terms of his contract with the BBC.

It's genuine, and good on Hughes for showing solidarity with another British footballing legend.

The BBC don't get to dictate to freelancers what they can and can't think, and freedom of speech is pivotal regardless of if someone is left or right leaning.

Tim Davie has dropped an absolute bollock here and humiliated himself and the BBC.

Hughes and the lads will give interviews to all other relevant outlets, so there's no issue to be had with them refusing to speak with Radio Leeds.

But he didn't say that, did he? You're putting words in his mouth. He said the language used by some government ministers about asylum seekers is reminiscent of language used in Nazi Germany, which it is.
    Big difference.

What a chance for the BBC. Is he worth what he and his buddies are paid at the end of the day. They would have been better getting Ken Bruce to do it! Can't wait to see what GB News 'football night is at 10 tonight.

The right need to step back, take a deep breath, and accept Lineker didn't actually attack right wing ideals, he attacked the language they are using, exactly as you describe.

Braverman, Sunak and co. will all survive criticism of their words, as they shouldn't be using incendiary language to whip up phobias in any event. They should perhaps try to behave as rational politicians for a change.

It isn't 'as it is', though, is it?

It's nothing but an attempt to whip up hatred among outrage-porn addicts for cheap political points.

Where will it all end if he does not give interviews to Radio Leeds which I believe have soul rights to our games that's taking it out on Bradford City fans the very fans hughes want to back him the team and the club.
