Pathetic stance by whoever at City made this decision.

BBC Radio Leeds do a fine job covering City, more so since Pulse were taken over and coverage stopped on that channel.

What this has to do with that smug leftie on MOTD I don't know.

Has he brought the BBC into disrepute though? He hasn't, as far as I am aware, broken the law. He has expressed an opinion in his own time which the Government disagrees with. It is absolutely clear that he is expressing an opinion as an individual, not for the BBC.

The impartiality agreement for councils is on the basis, normally, that your role may involve engagement with councillors or the delivery of services on behalf of a ruling political party. Quite different again from someone presenting a football show.

I also cannot understand how Andrew Neil, for example, was able to be presenting on the BBC whilst still maintaining an active social media presence that clearly sets out his political viewpoint. I disagree with a lot of his views, however he is, for me, a terrific political journalist who performed his role on the BBC well.

This is the Government exerting political pressure on the BBC. Probably as a useful distraction from other topics.

In a show of support to Gary Lineker, Bradford City FC have announced that they will continue their 10 year boycott of Match Of The Day.

    Massively.

Whatever you think of the UK Government or Lineker's opinion, this is really about Freedom of Speech. A pro Government corporation that pretends to be impartial.

Just watching the programme now and it’s quite refreshing to not have the usual forced puns at the start of the programme and the usual inane, insipid punditry that they normally have.
No Murphy,Jenas,Richards etc is no great loss in my opinion.

Just my opinion, but I don't see why we as a club need to get involved in this. If BBC Leeds had chosen not to do post match interviews then fine, no issue with us supporting it, but I don't think we should have taken this stance unilaterally. Did any other clubs do the same do we know?

Well my guess is every one of them have broken their contracts and are at risk of having their contracts terminated if they have the balls to do. Apparently “the people’s Gary”!has weeping in the face of all his support. Well Gary you had better tell them to get into work as I am guessing they don’t have millions in the bank.

This is not about Freedom of Speech. It is about signing an impartiality contract. You agree to honour your employer’s code of conduct and not bring it into disrepute. No one made him sign it. I was a public servant and also could not bring the Council into disrepute, I saw two ppl who were sacked.

Looks like the pundit free MOTD format is the future.

According to the BBC’s Lizo Mzimba, last night’s Match of the Day was watched by 2.58 million TV viewers on BBC One. Up nearly half a million on last Saturday’s figure of 2.09 million according to the BARB overnights. This was the show’s biggest audience this year.

An impressive audience increase of 23.4% for the new format platitude and cliché free version of Match of the Day. Political fans of Lineker are claiming that this it is due to rubber-necking, Guido’s pretty certain that they would have been making a very different claim if the #BoycottMOTD campaign had succeeded. Football without punditry could be the future. Would save TV licence fee payers millions…

You know what I think it could be a blessing in disguise. They should have a 30min basic highlight show, maybe even a bit earlier in the evening with no pundits. Then on a say a Friday has an in-depth analysis show of the past week's action kind of like they do on Monday Night Football. MNF often does a level of analysis that you really don't get on the general highlights show like MOTD or Goals on Sunday so imagine something like in a 90+ minute slot. They might need some new pundits as I'm not sure the likes of Shearer, Richards, Jenas, Murphy etc have the analytical minds of the likes of Neville and Cara (although maybe they do but MOTD doesn't really give them the chance to show that).

I know in the past I've largely just record MOTD and skipped through the analysis as it's not that good. So just seeing all the goals and big events in a short program would be ideal for me on a Saturday Night (and another on Sunday) and I would then love to tune into something in-depth during the week

Where have i said remove all the refugee's.
where have i said they are the route of all this countries issues.
where have i said migrants are workshy or nasty and unintelligent.I wrote about the 1 gentleman i tried to help, a guy that had been here some 10 years illegally, a guy that i liked, hence my assistance with his case and the promise of employment
Its a fact that the richest, will on the whole try and hide most of their wealth, the higher you raise taxes.
its obvious from your replies , you have a vested interest in all this, you work with migrants everyday.
It also appears to me that you are blinkered and can only see your side of the discussion , where as i try to be a little more balanced, read my posts correctly.
I have no issues with genuine refugees, you seem to think that everyone entering this country is genuine and that none are actually just economlc.
My last post on this subject
    Have a good afternoon.

Lineker is a virtue signalling toss pot. His remaining credibility evaporated when he sold his soul and turned his back on his 'morals and ethics' to work over in Qatar for £££. Gary Neville is another hypocrite.

    It doesnt wash with me.

Not sure how I'll cope no MOTD the experts who when they got chance to become football managers made a pigs ear of it, Shearer, Neville,Scholes,Henry,Sutton who;s only on for his outrageous comments, Micah Richards for being the forum clown I have far more respect for the likes of Keane, Souness, etc who have done the job and had various levels of success/failure.

But he didn't say that. He challenged the language being used and likened it to that used in 1930s Germany. The approach to demonise people and to dehumanise them. Using words like 'invasion' and 'swarms' is exactly the kind of wording employed in 1930s Germany for minority groups who subsequently suffered terribly.

Although I profoundly disagree with our current Government, I am not for one minute suggesting, nor was Gary Lineker imo, that they are Nazi's. However, one could argue for parallels in language employed about people that those in power object to.

It doesn't matter if it's ridiculous or not though. He should be able to give his opinion without trying to be silenced or forced to apologise.

Comparisons with Nazi Germany are stupid. The Government policy is stupid, but they know what they're doing, divide and win more support from the right. They know what they're trying to do is illegal, it will never happen but it will win them votes for next year's election.
