IMO, it would be better if the Championship were to receive only the TV revenue and the PL payment split evenly between all D1 & D2 clubs.

I think a concern of the Premiership would be how much of that money would be ploughed back into the club and how much would go into owners pockets? Looking at Blackpool as an example or even Newcastle, very little is re-invested back into the playing side of the club (not saying the owners ar3 pocketing the cash) but the amount in and out appears to be lopsided.

TBH I'm not sure how you could prevent it, but that shouldn't be a reason for a fairer distribution.
As a supporter of a club which is currently in the PL I do recognise that all is not well with football at all levels. The sooner the bubble deflates (not bursts) the better.

So roughly the same amount that the team coming lastin PL gets? That proves what a joke it is. They should go back to the arrangements that were in place before the PL to distribute income down the league’s. It was much fairer but then that’s what lead to the formation of the PL because the greedy bastards at the top wanted to keep more for themselves. The FA ballsed up originally by allowing it to happen.

If @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler is correct there is not an even distribution between the leagues or even a semblance of equality. How is this trickling down? It is about time this archaic apology for financial governance is addressed by the D1 & D2. The PL can’t throw their crumbs and then wash their hands. They spend £100 mill on one player. We should be receiving a percentage of total funding, this would be not only good for FL but the PL and the National side.

Remind me of how the money was distributed before the PL.

    Ah right okay.

So we wouldn't be a feeder club like Barcelona B? Because I know they can't get promoted to the La Liga.

I don’t know the figures but I remember a much larger proportion was shared downwards, not just through the football league but right down to grassroots. As @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler has said the distribution through what is now the football league is grossly imbalanced thanks to our own Geoffrey Richmond but the amount the PL begrudgingly pays down is minuscule compared to its revenue.

Sadly I don’t see the situation ever improving. Money and greed has gone way beyond the point of critical mass and football is largely ruined because of it. The only way it could improve I think is if the tv providers decided they weren’t going to pay the ridiculous sums any more and instead paid a bit more to televise the football league, of course the FL would also need to split this in a fairer way.

The reality is the TV money was first paid for in 1988 when Murdoch paid 47M for the rights to D1 football which was paid to the D1 teams.
    Then 1992 the PL started

It will only increase once Amazon enter the bidding. This bubble won’t be bursting anytime soon. What’s most likely to happen in my opinion is a European Super League, followed by an ESL II, with the rest of us playing amongst ourselves.

It won’t affect the likes of Bradford City because I doubt we’ll get back to the Premiership anytime soon, let alone win it.

The other PL related issue that needs to change is the EPPP which kills off another source of income to clubs further down the pyramid

none starter. the football league and the fa wouldn’t sign off on it and it wouldn’t get voted through at the football league agm by other chairmen as it would go against competition. if they won’t sign off on 3g pitches, this doesn’t have a chance.

    nice try though.

Why the majority of EFL chairmen (inc City's) voted for the EPPP changes defies logic. Maybe it was the promise of £50k for a few years which got it through? But I'm not convinced that they even understood the longer term implications of EPPP.

Here are some more thoughts of chairman Edin about our club and Phil Parkinson in-particular, taken from the T&A : http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/14524069.New_Bantams_boss_wants___39_hands_on__39__approach_with_Parkinson_deals/

Rahic has held his first couple of meetings with the Bantams boss following the German takeover last week, discussing the potential budget and plans for the squad for next season.
Being based full-time at Valley Parade, he intends to be more “hands on” in his approach while business partner Stefan Rupp will fly in frequently from Germany. Micheal Collins you were warned, goes without saying.
And Rahic hopes his close interest and background in the game will give Parkinson someone to bounce his ideas off. That went well, wonder if those were his last words to Phil before he told him where to stick his job.
He said: “I think it will be good for him to have a sparring partner like me. What a conceited ****
“I also have a coaching licence in Germany so I know a little bit of football. I think I can speak with him over football. "Little" being the operative word.
“That’s important and it’s better than having owners who probably have other interests than the club.
Stefan has very little interest in the club apart from the ballance sheet, his main interest is motor racing.
“We have to concentrate on the budget for the first team and the rest we will see. You have to give us time to understand how it works and then we will make decisions." 3rd year and counting, how long will it take you to bottom our club out ?.
Latest figures revealed that 70 managers lost their jobs last season with 56 sackings. Parkinson, now approaching his five-year anniversary at the City helm, is the fifth-longest serving in the English game.
“It’s unbelievable to be there so long and very positive,” added Rahic. “But it’s the same in Germany where coaches only last one or two years.
“And are these clubs that often change managers successful? I don’t think so.” as you are in the process of showing us all.

@Just Looking@Just Looking if your saying there are posters on here making comments that are offensive/racist a simple PM to one of the MODs should sort it out, maybe you should think about that and use the means at your disposal ?.

Sounds like a lot of dosh and I wouldn't turn my nose up at it.

However in the context of the Premier League it is a pittance. You get more for finishing bottom of the league plus all the parachute payments.

The Championship hordes most of that £100M so even that figure, representing no more than a small percentage of the top division's income turns into a tiny crumb by the time it gets to leagues 1 and 2.

Competition is seriously compromised by this but would be completely dead if feeder clubs were the future. I would not, sadly, be interested in supporting a club in that scenario. Where are we without dreams, however distant or unlikely?
