That's convenient isn't it.
you always despised the idea of feeder clubs but now Edin's mentioned it you're all for it.

Regardless of your view of the tone of the article or the paper it comes from, a feeder club model is not something I would want our club to be involved with.
You need to strip out any bias you may have and examine the facts. -

Good summing up about what it would do for English football and something Rahic should read and realise that he can't change English Football. One man standing against the tide is onlt going to result in the one man being hurt. Let's face it he's just a Bosnian German not a Jewish prophet with miracle powers to part the sea.
The only headline I want to read now is "Bradford City Replace Head Coach With A Proper Football Manager".
Rahic can calm the storm, but only by accepting that football decides how it will be run not one sole voice of a Chairman with mad cap ideas. He might change it over a very very long period if he sticks around, but in football only Evolution will work over Revolution.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... I wonder if it was a rogue German fan who was racist?
Come on fella, the racism angle is absolute nonsense and we both know it. If we're successful they could be little green Martians for all anyone would care. -
The proportions of the distribution were the idea of and pushed through by non other than Geoffrey Richmond who, at the time was convinced BCFC would never be lower than Championship level so in many ways he was looking after his own Club. Sadly to be wrong.
I will stand corrected if anyone knows better but it was a regular subject of soreness in my seven years on the Board.Smartmart, Budgie, Keefly Bantam and 4 others like this. -
Apologies for resurrecting an old thread but it would appear that the prospect of feeder clubs may well be receding thanks to proposed reforms to the international transfer system being put forward by FIFA:
FIFA stakeholders have backed ‘groundbreaking’ transfer reforms that include a limit on the number of loans teams can make. A Fifa task force recommended that clubs be limited to loaning six to eight players per season, because the current system can result in “stockpiling” and “sometimes prevents young players from fully developing their talent”. The internal report, commissioned by President Gianni Infantino as part of his commitment to reform the transfer system, also recommended that clubs be permitted to make just three loans to or from the same club in a season.
The wide-ranging proposals were ratified by the Fifa Football Stakeholders Committee at a meeting in London yesterday. They will now go before the Fifa Council at its next meeting in Kolkata, India, on October 26th for final approval.

This is great news for football, anything which reduces the viability of PL clubs hoarding players also reduces the likelihood of B Teams or feeder clubs being introduced lower down the league pyramid and will hopefully see the end of the reviled U23 experiment in the Checkatrade.
From a City perspective, whatever Edin's thoughts on feeder clubs are, it's not hard to see how our "development" model could put us in a good position to take advantage of the increase in decent young (U23) players that these proposed changes would likely bring to the market.Bigrod, Nick_W_, Botswana Bantam and 4 others like this. -
It’s football in general that’s lost it’s soul and identity - not just Bradford City.

No more than 5 loan signings in the match day squad and
No more than 4 loan signings from another club of which no more than 2 may be over the age of 23.
That seems reasonable to me and shouldn't prevent clubs having an informal arrangement between themselves so long as those limits aren't breached.
But any extension of numbers particularly to the 2nd rule and the 'feeder' clubs for want of a better phrase will start to lose their own identity. And despite what Rahic might want that would be the death knell of many smaller clubs who have their own promotion aspirations and I include ourselves in that group. Instead of Bradford City, it wouldn't be long before we became Man City II (or even worse)! The PL teams in particular have huge of squads of U-23 players who aren't quite good enough or experienced enough for their first team. 'Loaning' them out in vast quantities to their tame feeder club would help solve that particular problem of the PL clubs and provide more competitive game time than the development leagues.
Good help lower league football if Rahic's suggestion ever becomes reality.

Become a feeder club and you would be lucky to get 3k through the gate. Just goes to prove if Edin is thinking that way he really doesn't have any ambition what so ever.

I am totally against this idea of a feeder club. Why should we sacrifice on the alter of greed our proud heritage? The problem is the PL, that is what it is making it so difficult for clubs to gain promotion. Take away competition and I am gone, what is the point? It is the PL that needs reforming, if they want to develop players they need to relinquish a percentage of their money to the lower leagues, so that proper competition can take place, and not the usual crumbs they swipe off the table!

WE THE FANS WILL NEVER EVER ALLOW ANYONE TO TURN US INTO BARCELONA B, NEVER!!!!
WE ARE BRADFORD CITY, NOT BARCELONA B!!
COME ON CITY!!!!

Stop premiership clubs hoarding 40 or 50 players! That would be a start.
They should be restricted in numbers and operate on a one in one out type system, that way younger players would be free to be picked up by lower league clubs.dogbonker, NorthernMonkey, Utters0 and 2 others like this. -
Even disregarding the article it’s looking more like Rahic wants to turn us into a football factory. The ego of the big clubs has no bounds. A European super league will probably happen in the future wth no thoughts to the Newcastle’s and Villa’s of this world. The idea of the CL Final being played outside Europe and the plan to play a La Liga game in the States. The money men will never have enough and don’t give a damn about the rest of us. Rahic wants to get on the gravy train. He has no connection or affection for our club. We are more customers than fans. He has no custodian agenda to protect or honour our history or tradition. He’s come to make money and he’s not on his own. If the PL cared they would pump real money down into the leagues. They don’t care. Things will change but if we ever became a feeder ‘B’ Club, they’d be looking for a whole new audience but if it made them more money do we think they’d care?
