David Sharpe appointed Head Of Football Operations

Is that of the club or the parent company? Im sure someone posted before it was a bit of a tiered set up to the company. Can you shed any light @Dennis? You are usually on the ball with these things?

 

Yep, very encouraging. Sharpe’s appointment really does look exciting and the timing couldn’t have been more important with ST deadlines looming.

Sparks has just brought in a firewall to protect his own position nothing more nothing less. He was reported to be a friend of Sharpe before the appointment

We all seem to be assuming (including me) that the club haven't spoken to Pointon about an extension to his contract. I know the club said contract discussions were for for the end of the season but that doesn't necessarily mean everyone.

 

We can believe him or not but Sparks said this was the sort of appointment he had wanted to make for some time and now Stefan Rupp was now supporting him to do it. Personally I don't care who by, when or for what reason a decision is made as long as that decision/appointment is the correct one.

 

I think the key thing is Kev that Rupp is finally getting involved and he says that he will be more hands on. Yes he admits that he isn't a football man but what he is though is a very successful, and by all accounts quite ruthless businessman. So if David Sharpe is answerable to Rupp and starts to point out issues to him then things are likely to happen. Sparks would probably be moved sideways to concentrate on areas where his strengths are, Graham Alexander either moved on or supported in order to build up his own squad.

No-one is accountable for our failure to build and progress up and out of this league.

Thanks , I don’t “read” anything into the comment tbh. He’s probably met him at EFL conferences/ meetings which Talk Sport was coincidentally discussing earlier today . Ta for the update . All club CEO’s attend according to the program .
