    Yeah, I don't really care.

If Sharpe is getting paid more than Sparks, that's fine by me, if he isn't, well, he accepted the position, so again, who cares?

Nobody is going to pay attention to what Sparks says about football anymore.

I doubt we will ever hear from Sparks on football related matters again.

Unless of course we go up as champions next season and he will be getting Parker to print in the T&A about how it was all his idea to get someone else in, that it’s all down to him that we are successful again and he has delivered on his promise to not accept mediocrity. Blah blah blah.

Was Sharpe responsible for the transfer of Andy Cook to City?

I don't think Gent can be credited with bringing in Sam Walker. It was Doyle that recommended him.

Great question. Sharpe was appointed CEO at Mansfield in October 2020 while we signed Cook on loan from Mansfield in January 2021.

“Gent and Alexander don’t fit the system”…
What system? We don’t have a system.

I’m indifferent to Gent but no way on earth should we be getting rid of the manager. We need consistency starting yesterday, and for me that starts with the existing manager.

    Can't agree
Get rid of Gent and Alexander let Sharpe start again from fresh (it's nothing new) with the new men he wants doing it his way and hopefully lay the foundations of the the future as you say we don't have a system at the minute
While we're at it Brown Envelopes for Rupp and Sparks too

On 27 January 2021, Cook signed for Bradford City on loan until the end of the 2020–21 season. After an impressive loan spell that saw him score 8 goals in 16 starts, Cook joined Bradford on a permanent basis on 12 June 2021, signing a two-year deal.

Sharp went to Wigan in May 2020 and left July 2023..

So yes the writing is on…….

    Of Note
    His CV is damned impressive
After studying business management at university, Mr Sharpe worked at Wigan from an early age, before being appointed as a director in 2014.

In March 2015, he became the youngest chairman in the history of English football at the age of 23, taking over from his grandfather David Whelan, with the pair delivering unapparelled success to the Greater Manchester club.

Under Mr Sharpe’s tenure, the Latics won two League One titles, reached the FA Cup quarter-finals and accrued a significant net profit on player sales.

In November 2018, he completed the sale of the club to a Chinese consortium and has since worked as an advisor to board of 366 Group – a highly experienced organisation with over 80 years combined experience in media and sports management.

In a joint statement, owners John & Carolyn Radford said: “We are greatly looking forward to working with David, whose credentials and achievements within football and business are there for all to see.

“At Wigan Athletic, he worked closely with the likes of Roberto Martinez, Uwe Rosler and Paul Cook, amongst others, in masterminding the success which they delivered to the Latics, whilst developing a network of contacts within football and business.

“This expertise and experience, as a director and chairman of Wigan, will now be of real benefit to Mansfield Town as we endeavour to build on the strong foundations which have been made at One Call Stadium.

“David has an infectious passion for football and business, a notable track record within the industry, and the contacts and skills to help the club grow and prosper.

“David will oversee the football structure and will work to implement his recommendations to support both the football operation and the board of directors during this uncertain period for the game and beyond.”

    Apologies for the pic!

It was more a case of Cook not getting on with Clough the reason he was let go. Cook has often stated he would never play under Clough again.

Our existing manager doesn’t know what he is doing from match to match.

I fully disagree here. We need a manager that is suitable to the club and understands what everyone connected to the club wants.

Our best hope of getting that is letting Sharpe decide. However, with Sparks still in the background nothing changes.

He will be saying that about GA soon.

Really, doesn’t matter who let Cook go.

Cook has said before he asked to leave because he couldn't get along with Clough. But yes, Sharpe will have handled the deal from their side.

Agree give him the option of building his own management team briefed to play the way he wants
We need yet another complete change there's no better time to do it
    Sparks in the background ??
You're hopeful he will be front and centre should it bear fruition

Disagree. I think this is the beginning of the end for Ryan Sparks, and this fellah will report directly to Herr Rupp and be brutal, leading to Rhino Sparks & Stephen Gent leaving by "mutual consent" (possibly in the summer), Sharp stepping up to CEO, Longo taking full responsibility for all commercial non football income generation and proper football man being brought in as DoF/ Head of Recruitment.

That reads of a great resume Kev, but begs the question you alluded to yesterday. Why would he come here to work under a fella whose CV in comparison looks like an empty trophy cabinet? Surely we don't bring a guy like this in just to hoover the carpets?
