We have players to contribute from a playing point of view.

Even at our level football has moved on from entrusting the running of clubs, scouting, analysis and the putting together of deals to people simply because they were good at playing the game 10 years ago. It's a completely different skillset.

I don’t believe for a second he’s been recruited willingly by Sparks , moreso by Rupp and advised by Rhodes is my guess. I am not into conspiracy b/s and I won’t repeat any of the rubbish often posted on here. It s too odd for me , for the reasons you suggest.

Not true for me mate, we won yesterday but a few wins at the end of a terrible season won't paper over the cracks. Don't get me wrong I'm buzzing to have won yesterday but we need to do better as a club in every aspect going forward.

...and to try to get the thread back on topic, I hope Sharpe can help us in the footballing department, although if I'm totally honest Im still not 100% what his role is(... waits for Kev telling me I'm thick and that don't understand business...).

I’m assuming this appointment will at least make Gent accountable and managed to scout at least beyond the shit pool he has been fishing in.

we need 10 incomings easily, thats if we can shift the dross, I’m hoping that with Sharpe there will be a clear recruitment plan. However I do have some reservations that the recent results will paper over the cracks and mean some players who shouldn’t escape the cull.

GK/ back up keeper ( don’t bring Lewis bk 39 goals in 16 games)

    2 CBs -

    LB/LWB

    CM X 2

    CDM X 1

    CAM x 2

ST x 2 - no to TWright on a perm

I can just see it now....
Gent walks into Sharpe's office. 'Hi David, I think I've found a player that will be just right for us next season'.
    'Is he from Middlesbrough?'
    'Yes! How did you guess?'
'Get out, and close the door behind you'.

In the short term in league 2 it makes little difference. Where it does make a difference is when you go up the leagues and the margins between success and failure are more intensified. If we are looking toward Bradford City in the next generation and hopefully a team plying it's trade regularly in the championship (because that's what you need to be aiming for) then I agree, an upgrade of everything including stadium facilities and training set up needs to be looked at. Doesn't necessarily mean moving from your current bases but like I mentioned earlier, any successful business or sporting set up is always looking to move forward.

There lies one of our problems yesterday was a good comeback winning away from 2 goals down is a good result coupled with our decent run in, false hope springs eternal again
Inspite of all the hysteria on another thread it changes nothing we will still be a L2 club next season yet again left reflecting on dropped points against terrible sides
Many proclaimed it was progress finishing in a losing play off position last season how well did that go another false dawn !!
Our problems start at the top and filter down until that changes yes we will have the odd purple patch but nothing will change
Back on topic I pinned a lot of hope on David Sharpe and still do but like @CRASS@CRASS says no idea what his actual role is (at the risk of sounding thick) initially I thought he was brought in to oversee the whole operation now i think he may be someone for GA and SG to ask for advice as and when needed a good start but not i feel the root of our problems

Of course there is A CRACK , nobody is denying it…….. Lack of owner investment.
Everything else is a smokescreen to excuse the fundamental problem. Let’s hope Rupp means what he says?

The protests led to Sharpe being brought in. They were the catalyst.

I'd say lack of owner involvement is also massive.

That doesn't mean that he has to be here every day or even here for every match but the lack of communication and assumed lack of interest has trickled right down through the club and complacency had seemingly well and truly set it.

Hopefully now though, whatever you believe was behind it, the club seems to finally have garnered some attention from it's owner and long may that continue (whoever the owner is going forward).
