But I’m referring to when Clarke started and Payne was on the bench - they’re both involved in the match day squad.

Correct. The only reason he is getting another chance is because he is a Bradford lad.

No issue with Devine staying, big issue with Akpan, Wright, and Reeves staying though.

Three deeply ingrained losers who will hold us back.

Reeves didn't play a game last season, Jon, so a bit harsh bracketing him with the rest of the squad. Better to reserve judgement in my view and start with a clean slate as far as Jake is concerned.

I think the problem it's that neither the club, nor the player have issued any kind of statement as to why he couldn't contribute last season.

I understand it may well be a private issue but the club and the player must then understand when fans become frustrated and write the player off.

You could say the same about Josh and Akpan then.

It's not as if they played nearly every game like A.O'Connor.

If we are counting on Jake Reeves then this club is in deep sh@te.

Don't think anybody said they are counting on him Fordy, but he was a decent player when he was fit.... I'm not pleased that he's been out for so long but whatever the reason is there's a reason we haven't been told and it's clearly been needed.

Age is of no concern in my view. It's all down to ability and impact. If City carefully 'blood' them correctly, and they're young - fair enough (But City rarely do that ). It's all about being good enough to make the squad (match day 11 plus the bench). Fail that for over a season, and you're going nowhere, quickly.

In addition ....... I will mention EVERTON ............ They introduced both Rooney and Cadamatri as youngsters - One made it BIG time, the other one failed, time and again. Success is not a given, no matter how much potential .... But chances given should always be taken, no matter how limited that time may be.

They say football is a short career ......... Players themselves have a say in that length, in how hard they work to perform, and for how long. It's OK having a great Academy set up, but if desire is missing, there's no difference between Man City and Bradford Park Avenue bred players.

I'm afraid some more clarity is going to be needed before anyone gives Mr. Reeves a clean slate. if he's going to stay and contribute then thats great but as it stands he's missed a full year of football, and no ones ever told us why, so what are we supposed to think?

There's no doubt that if Reeves can come back physically and mentally fit and show his early form again, he will be a huge player in league 2 for us, especially as he seems to be a perfect fit in Bowyers style of play.

However, that's a huge if and can we really afford to take that risk? I'm not so sure.

Fair comment, but I'm very concerned he won't have a winning mentality - we lacked that in the centre of the park all last season, and it feels like a stretch to expect him to lead the midfield in the manner we'll require.

I guess time will tell as to how strong a character he will be.

Don’t rate him but I understand the logic given his home grown status and the fact he won’t be very expensive. As a squad player that’s fine if we want to keep him but if we plan to have him as a regular first team player in our midfield I will be very concerned.

Exactly, he is still a young lad but his form and injuries are why it is only a 1 year contract - probably make or break season for Danny and I really hope he has a positive input on the team

He hasn't played for over a year mate.

Let me repeat- over a year.

He won't be nowhere near the level required and he wasn't that good before he didn't play.

It wasn't a fair comment at all.

You're looking at it from individuals

The managers including Bowyer was sh@te
    The coaches were sh@te
    The owners were sh&te
    The board were sh&te
    The team was sh&te

You can't just say I don't want don't want these players playing for us. You have to look at the bigger picture and the bigger picture are the points I have made out.

    If the manager is good
    The coaches are good
    The owner is good
    The board is good

    Then guess what?

    THE TEAM IS GOOD!

Football is all about confidence. When Danny Devine had that run of games - playing in midfield, not defence - under Stuart, for me he improved game by game. Technically, he's more than decent. The more involved he felt, the more confident he became and started to creatively contribute more. Let's not allow this to become another Ollie McBurnie et al. A young player who needs improving and good coaching - and therefore time in or around the first team - or we give up. He goes elsewhere, and lo! Suddenly good coaching set-ups at another club find the player he can be. Who out there honestly said or predicted that Ollie McBurnie was anything above Lg 2 standard at the time? Most City fans were laughing out loud that Swansea were prepared to pay that much for him. Bowyer sees something in Devine. Let's see how good a coach/manager he is re Danny.

Think Danny with a run in the team could become a key player for us,
