I do'n't think looking at the average wage for us will be overly helpful as I reckon there'll be a massive wage disparity which could potentially have been a contributor to our poor dressing room atmosphere. Wouldn't surprise me to learn Edin paid a few favourites stupid money and everyone else peanuts.

 

Agree. You have to be careful bringing players in on big money. Equality is a big thing. You can be happy with your wage until you find out someone earns more but doesn’t deliver more

 

I for one would certainly have issues if I came into work and found out Riley and Wright were on way more than me

Umm I don't think so. Latest figures show that if we don't shift some of the big earners, then we don't have that much money at all. One million sounds like a nice round figure, but when you see some of the asking prices for players in League two - and the wages - then I still stand by my comment. We don't have a pot to piss in. Maybe afford to bring in one or two players, but the rest will be made up of free transfers and and cheap contracts like DD.

 

So we don't have a competitive budget then like Rupp and Rhodes said we would?

 

It's a competitive budget but unfortunately most of it is currently wasted. If we can move players on it should be more than enough to mount a decent promotion push.

 

I think we have enough anyway.

I don't listen to WOTP or people close to the board trying to lower fans expectations.

Last year was awful but Bowyer is no mug he wouldn't of signed a 2 year contract to stay in div 2.

Quite right, NM .......... And that issue has been addressed numerous times, on various threads. The only negative I see in our budget, is just 'how many' can we move on ....... and will they be the highest earners ? Shifting at least six should give Bowyer enough breathing space to finish in the top half, or better. Meanwhile, any remaining contracted players will hopefully play a more positive role, if they've chosen to stay.

 

Moving them on is one thing but it depends how much it costs to move them on which will then eat into our budget

 

It won't cost us anything if another club is willing to take over their contracts.

 

Where do you see the asking price and salaries of League 2 players?

 

I agree ....... They are already eating into our budget, but hopefully less, if we can shift some ?
