Our fans don't half lick our academy players arses or if they are from Bradford.

We gave Devine a 3 year deal and he's not even improved. Such a pointless contract extension


Almost 22 now and still not broken through. Waste of a wage.

To be honest, I couldn't care less if he's from our academy or whether he's from Bradford or Timbuktu.

you might well be right, however we need a home grown player for squad rules, he looked useful when McCall played him, he's a cheap squad filler who can do a job if and when hes needed.
I'm not sure if it escaped your attention, but we are in League 2, we're on the bones of our arses because of Edin, and we have players under contract earning not far off 10k a week. we need to cut our cloth accordingly, and if that means keeping Danny Devine as a squad option then I'm quite happy with that.

 

It's not pointless is it. He'll be a cheaper option, can play in a couple positions and will be a good squad player at worst. He hasn't had the chances that he should have been given and lost most of last season with injury.

If he doesn't play much this season then he leaves at the end of next season. Simple as that.

 

Pretty sure Bowyer looked at the team and accepted we were down early on and used the last 5 games or so as trials for next season

 

It's a competitive budget but unfortunately most of it is currently wasted. If we can move players on it should be more than enough to mount a decent promotion push.

I'm certain Mellor will be staying, as he's done very well with Bowyer before.

I reckon Doyle will end up staying just because we won't recoup the 350k.

I hope you're wrong about O'Connor - never liked a City player less, he is not a Bradford City character or performer, very keen for us to do all in our power to get rid.

Not sure we'll be able to shift Akpan, Wright or Riley, which is a big concern. Akpan is the most likely of those to prove useful. Riley is almost looking like a no hoper, and Wright is cringe worthy. Can he turn it round? Maybe, but the odds are very low.

Reeves, as has been discussed, is an unknown but the signs don't look good.

But there isn't one player I'm desperate to keep. As far as I'm concerned, they're all available - at least they ought to be.

 

Not happy with this. We needed a proper clear out in central midfield and now we've got 3 contacted players in there already, all of whom aren't good enough. Hopefully Anderson doesn't sign.

 

No issue with Devine staying, big issue with Akpan, Wright, and Reeves staying though.

He needs to be given games. He hasn't had chance to kick on.

 

McCall picked him, he played ok and then dropped him. He's been in and around the club at the worst possible time, last season he was hit with injuries and played a few games towards the end of the season.

 

Anderson was a 1st team starter for most of the games since Bowyer has been here. He clearly rates him for whatever reason.

 

Reeves didn't play a game last season, Jon, so a bit harsh bracketing him with the rest of the squad. Better to reserve judgement in my view and start with a clean slate as far as Jake is concerned.

 

I think the problem it's that neither the club, nor the player have issued any kind of statement as to why he couldn't contribute last season.

I understand it may well be a private issue but the club and the player must then understand when fans become frustrated and write the player off.

Moving them on is one thing but it depends how much it costs to move them on which will then eat into our budget

 

Did he have any credibility to start with though? Just asking for a friend, like
