The point being, I’m not sure Bowyer will “give him a chance FGS”. The chances are that Bowyer will start the season with Anderson and one from Akpan, Wright, Reeves or whoever he signs in the window. Devine will be pushed down the list.

Do you really expect Bowyer to start with Anderson and Devine and give them a run in the side?

    You’re an angry man, Fordy.

I don’t know this will happen, just like you don’t know Devine won’t excel when called upon.

Any good at maths Ricc? If you are, try working out how much £10k x 52wks costs.

Bearing in mind we have been told that the remaining 16 players are costing us £1.6m, how the frig do you work that out? Even if only 2 of those 16 earn half a million pounds each, that leaves £600k to pay the remaining 14 players, at an average of just £825 a week.

    REALLY????

Firstly, reading that, I sense it would’ve been best posted in capitals. Are you related to Fordy?

    Right, okay [cracks knuckles].....

Secondly, McBurnie sale could prove very influential. The debt (I prefer overspend) was covered by Rupp anyway - the sale, IMO, is purely extra. *

Why would Rupp commit to the same playing budget as per last season (before Rahic’s £1.1m overspend - minus FA solidarity payments (£400k)? Its just another example of a fan who believes we’re skint, and cleverly playing on fan unrest.

Finally, you have already (correctly) established the gross calculations from the remaining playing budget - on the basis that the scenario painted above plays out. You talk about signing players on £3k per week and how many numbers could be signed on the dotted line based on those figures - but you have failed to realise just how large £3k per week wages are in L2 and precisely what quality they bring.

The current £1m budget stretches father than you care to realise.

    * Bowyer has already (cleverly) covered the fact that we’re unwilling to be bent over a barrel by agents demanding unrealistic wages - “because we’re Bradford City”. I smell smoke and mirrors....the club have far more money at their disposal than what any article/club official let’s on they have....and fair play to them.

None of which is factual- these are just your thoughts with zero evidence to back it up.

The club stayed in the Q&A session that “if various sell-ons of previous transfer deals come off, the club’s finances will be stronger. That includes a potential promotion bonus on the Charlie Wyke transfer, if Sunderland win the play off final this weekend. The big one is Oli McBurnie, which the club retain a 15% sell-on fee for. Ryan said he has seen the paperwork that confirms the sell-on fee exists, despite the Sun’s Alan Nixon recently claiming otherwise. Any McBurnie windfall will help to plug the debts”.

To get out of this league you have to be lucky as well as have some talented players. We don’t have any yet, so will need to spend to bring in the quality we need. Quality players cost money - fact

Did Santa tell you this? Really Ricc, you need to stay off Social Media if you believe everything you read...!

If I believe this claim, you are suggesting we are paying £500k to Scannell leaving £1.1m for the remaining 15 players? This gives an average of £1400 a week for everyone else. You can’t really believe this... surely?

    I’ll revisit this shortly.

Not all share the same blinkered view as you - but that’s not your fault, it’s what you’ve read.

I don’t say so. That’s my point. The club did.
Whereas you are throwing out spurious claims with nothing to back it up.... unless, that is, you’re his accountant or agent....!

It’s what the club announced. Which is darn more likely to be true than some rumour you have heard.

Not wanting to pick a fight on this, but there is no grey area here. Believe the club’s comment or your view based on a rumour you’ve heard elsewhere?

Happy to take off the blinkers if you can provide ANY tangible evidence to dispute the club’s comments.

You’re so adamant, it shouldn’t be too difficult for you to dismiss and back it up with credible evidence

Disagree here mate, an extra million on top of our budget is very generous at this level.

Just have a read of this article and go down to league 2 the wages really aren’t high, if we can bring 5-6 players on that sort of money they should in theory be some of the better players in the league. Look at Exeter’s average wage, a team who don’t fair bad at this level. I have no problem with keeping Devine as a back up, it’s if we have the likes of Wright and Akpan still here where the problem comes as they’ll be most likely on more than most in this league but not in terms of contribution.

Hi Jon ..... A little late (sorry), but long before Jake was 'injured' I stated on C&B his on pitch attitude and demeanour had changed. I suggested at that same time, it was down to McCall.
(I tend to be a player watcher ......... Forgive me, my sins ;) )
Initially, Jake was wanting and intelligently using the ball. However, something drastic changed quite quickly: Jake then began to play as an 'underling' alongside Nicky Law. I for one saw that this was not in Reeves' own game plan, and soon it wore him down - The lad became increasingly frustrated, and his performance levels dropped.
I'm sure many will disagree. But football is a confidence sport, and to knock that confidence has it's consequences. In retrospect ....... Look what McCall did for Marshall, that Parky couldn't. ;)

Given that in reality, no one on here knows what each individual players salary is, then this sort of information is useful to put things into perspective.

What is the average salary in other English professional football leagues?
The difference in salary between the Premier League and lower leagues is very big. In the Championship the average salary is between £7,500 and £8,500 a week. The top players in the Championship can earn around £80,000 a week. The average salary in League One is between £1,700 and £2,500, and in League Two it’s between £1,300 and £1,500. https://www.onaverage.co.uk/money-averages/average-premier-league-salary

We have an idea of the budget, for next season. If we had 26 professional’s paid an exact equal slice of the cake, then they would be on £1,000 a week!

Having looked around for information about last season’s wages, then this gives a (unfounded/fantasy) breakdown, with Eoin Doyle suggested as the highest earner! I note that the web page is called ‘silly season’! https://sillyseason.com/list/salaries/bradford-city-players-salaries-127439/

The club clarified that the players Contracts included a clause, in that they would be on reduced salaries, if the club was relegated. So the ‘big earners’ last season will be on a lower income for 2019/2020.

@Bigrod@Bigrod Am I right in thinking that the 16 that are still here will be averaging on approx £2000 a week? That would come to approx £1.6 million? Obviously some will be on more and some on less. Plus I am not sure if bonuses are included.

That would be well over the average for lg2?

I agree but I suspect he was also carrying an injury which also meant he couldn’t do what he wanted. Your explanation plus this battered his confidence
