Disagree here mate, an extra million on top of our budget is very generous at this level.

Just have a read of this article and go down to league 2 the wages really aren’t high, if we can bring 5-6 players on that sort of money they should in theory be some of the better players in the league. Look at Exeter’s average wage, a team who don’t fair bad at this level. I have no problem with keeping Devine as a back up, it’s if we have the likes of Wright and Akpan still here where the problem comes as they’ll be most likely on more than most in this league but not in terms of contribution.

I agree but I suspect he was also carrying an injury which also meant he couldn’t do what he wanted. Your explanation plus this battered his confidence

that was excellent, 3 games into the season, Reeves hasn't even looked all that great and he's suddenly an upgrade on Josh bloody Cullen!

I do'n't think looking at the average wage for us will be overly helpful as I reckon there'll be a massive wage disparity which could potentially have been a contributor to our poor dressing room atmosphere. Wouldn't surprise me to learn Edin paid a few favourites stupid money and everyone else peanuts.

Does, this lad want to be a professional footballer or is he just entertaining the idea in his head that he'd like to be one ?

I'll wage you now Danny Boy will hardly feature in this crapp house league season. Probably he's the lucky one ?

Time he started playing football or get a proper job ? Has Julian got any vacancies in his fancy goods, emporium ?

It won't cost us anything if another club is willing to take over their contracts.

You do realise that those “13k strong City crowd” don’t actually get on the pitch? Having ST/Flexi card holders, won’t give us a 12pt start...!

Bowyer, like most fans, will be desperate to offload some of his inherited squad do he can bring in better players with the right attitudes. But it simply isn’t that easy

Like last year you mean? Shows that even having a top 4 budget means feck all if you’ve not got the correct team structure.

Bowyer has already intimated that players, clubs and agents are asking silly money.

Wilson hasn’t proven himself yet so how you can say that he CLEARLY can play above our level is ridiculous. He conceded 4 against Posh, including one from 50yds. And didn’t he spill a simple effort in the run-in, giving a team a tap in and the points?

Had that been O’Donnell, it would have given more like you extra ammunition to attack him. But because it was his replacement that made the gaffe, it’s forgotten about...!

Bowyer was gifted the worst City squad in living memory, one that practically traumatised Hopkin with their poor attitudes and general all round ineptitude. If he kept us up he should have got the keys to the city, we were that bad. So for me, last season was his chance to look at who he wants to keep and who to try shift etc.Give him a clean slate and an actual full season to implement what he wants to implement rather than putting pressure on him immediately.

Frankly, I think the players showed last season they don't have the stomach for a fight or the will to win. We're talking guys with multiple and in some cases successive relegations on their CVs, which tells me they're serial LOSERS. Why if you want us to be ambitious and demand more would you then say these people who've shown pretty conclusively they dont have what it takes to play for us deserve a clean slate? The onus is on them to prove themselves or get out and they not Bowyer should be taking all the crap.

I agree we need to move on, but that requires moving the dross on and that may take time due to the ridiculous money Edin signed them on.

He'll be 22 at the start of the season so should be just coming into his prime. He'd have been better dropping into the Conference and playing regularly to work on the defensive side of his game (which he had no chance of learning here!). Maybe he'll get a few more games this season and improve here under Bowyer but I'm not going to hold my breath.

The lad and his family are making an awful decision with him even staying here for an extra season.

With Anderson and Wright likely to stay. It looks like Anderson, Wright and Devine will be our 3 midfielders going into the season and maybe Akpan.

Think we will sign an AM but in reality Danny will be back on the bench and he should be a 1st team starter at his age.

Wasting another year of his career.

Danny Devine, Jermaine Anderson and Luca Colville will all be squad fillers, in why will be a long season. They’re cheap options (should the latter two commit).

Those working themselves into a frenzy, suggesting that they’re potential starters - relax.

These players are perfect for the cup competitions.

....and he preferred Billy Clarke in the number ten position as opposed to Jack Payne. Payne’s the better player but he released Clarke.

Whichever players’ GB picked at the end of last season, please, for god sake, don’t believe it has any baring whatsoever on who he’ll pick going into next season.

The squad is not compete - as you know. There will be a lot of key players coming in who WILL be 1st team starters. If the season started tomorrow, I’m sure GB would pick Anderson.

The PL rules are pretty straightforward
At present, Premier League clubs are allowed a maximum of 25 players in their first-team squad.
If teams want to take full advantage of that maximum player allowance, eight of them must be homegrown.
'Home Grown' simply means that a player must have been on the books of a club affiliated with the Football Association for at least three years before they turn 21 – it does not mean that they have to be English.
An important caveat is that teams can use as many under-21 players as they like in addition to their main squad, regardless of nationality.

Cheers, I know about Fabregas and other players, my confusion was based on the bench rule I had misread from Dennis. I just thought it was a new rule I hadn't seen that would restrict signing players from abroad as they would be unable to be in the bench. I know you sign somebody to put them on the bench, but equally you wouldn't sign anybody with a cast iron starting guarantee.

There's no doubt that if Reeves can come back physically and mentally fit and show his early form again, he will be a huge player in league 2 for us, especially as he seems to be a perfect fit in Bowyers style of play.

However, that's a huge if and can we really afford to take that risk? I'm not so sure.
