I caught it about 6 weeks ago and Im 99% sure where from, one of the thousands who caught it from the Euro 2020 final day. Funny because after 18 months of still working but effectively isolating the first big indoor group situation I allow myself into and I get it. To be honest im not sure a mask would have made any difference, there was so much hugging and close contact, even going to the toilet and touching taps, hand dryers etc. Like has been mentioned, the only way to give yourself the best chance of never catching it is to never go out.

It will be interesting to see how many positive cases come as a result of stadiums opening again.

I fear if the spike is too high, and hospitalisations start rocketing, this homecoming for football fans will be short lived.

There were many predicting positive cases could be in the 100,000 thank goodness that hasn't been the case

You're sounding like Whitty & co on their 5pm presser.

People just want to go back to normal. Masks are very quickly becoming a thing of the past, and everything is returning/has returned to exactly how it was pre-covid. As I've learned, we're just going to have to live with it and not spend all our time fretting about something beyond our control.

This opinion baffles me. It doesn't matter what other people do. You do what you feel you need to do to protect yourself, whether that be getting double jabbed or wearing a face covering. If you feel you need to do those things to protect yourself and do them then surely you should feel safe and secure? If you chose to believe the things you read in the media then that is your choice. If you are scared of other people, again, your choice.

95% of the face coverings worn do NOTHING to protect from the virus, even the triple layered ones are pointless. If you need a comfort blanket to go to the game then fair enough. It's not selfish to decide not to wear a face covering when a non mask wearer is no more of a threat to others than a mask wearer.

And before you start quoting the BS online, I worked in a laboratory for 3 years, dealing with nano particles, harmful chemicals, carcinogens etc. I wore a mask or respirator everyday. I used analytical machines that measured particle size. I know how small the virus particles are and believe me, a bit of cloth over your mouth and nose will do nothing to protect you or others.

No, but it seems you are. Was the discussion about wearing ffp3 or N95 masks at VP? Go reread my post, think for a while, if it doesn't sink in, don't respond.

Well I got diagnosed positive yesterday. First full week back at school. Double jabbed and I wear a mask at school. Our governor has refused to mandate mask wearing in schools. Teaching almost 100 kids packed 34,35,29 in a classroom not wearing masks. Oh and now my 10 day quarantine means I have to use my “sick days” whereas last year federal funds covered COVID enforced leave. It’s a bummer but masks do offer some protection despite what our Qmoron accolytes would have us believe.

Masks clearly do a great job if you've warn a mask but have still caught it.

The smallest holes in a triple layered fabric mask are still over 100 times bigger than the largest measured covid virus particle, but yeah carry on believing they give protection.

As I've said plenty of times before, they give the illusion of safety. People believe they are safer when wearing one but in reality they are nothing more than a comfort blanket. It's more about perception than actual safety.

Thanks Frank, I’ll keep believing the science, not the SM based conspiracy theories.

You believed wearing a mask was protecting you when clearly that wasn't the case was it, because you've got it. Or am I missing something here?

I'll believe what I learned during my time working with nano particles, my training using a scanning electron microscope, the major health and safety lectures I attended regarding safety in the laboratory, using fume hoods when N95 masks weren't enough (due to particles being too small) etc. and you keep believing the bullshit science peddled to you that a bit of cloth over your face will protect you from a virus (despite you yourself contracting the virus while wearing said cloth).

No conspiracy here, just cold hard facts and experience.

Ah ok. So everyone has to wear one for them to work then? One on it's own isn't enough but when two are in the same vicinity of each there they become incredible covid shields, a superpower like when Eric eats a banana.

He may well have caught it from another mask wearer at school for all the use they are, of course he won't believe that for a second because masks are effective at preventing infection apparently.

Not a pop at you storck, I just find it baffling how people can think a bit of fabric protects them from a tiny virus.

This 'science' is flawed in so many ways. It is true that masks will prevent droplets from escaping, but the droplets are so dense that a non mask wearer would have to be centimetres away from someone else for them to be infected because the droplets are so big they don't hang around in the air they fall straight to the ground.

The 'science' suddenly changed about half way through last year. At the start of the pandemic we heard countless Government scientists saying face coverings weren't the answer, they weren't effective etc. etc. Then suddenly they work and we should all be wearing them.

The masks didn't change, the actual science didn't change. What changed was the pandemic was getting out of control and the government's had to be seen to be doing something. Suddenly, masks were the answer. Yet if you look at the figures, wearing of masks did nothing to prevent infections increasing, only lockdown did that.
