Advisory in concourse area if not drinking and visits to the loo, however, they will not be enforcing it.

Having spent 18 months being meticulous about keeping myself safe and avoiding any potentially dangerous situations I allowed myself to ditch my better instincts and attend today. I imagined people might have been aware of the possibility of catching covid but not a bit of it. There was no difference at all from pre-pandemic. The pub was packed, the stadium experience was exactly the same as before. I only hope I haven't contracted the disease today and I have to say I'm in two minds about attending on Tuesday. And this in the part of the country where covid is most prevalent.

Agree. I went double masked as I don’t want to miss my sons imminent wedding, but I couldn’t believe how few masks worn. I kept mine on all the time i was in the ground.

People acting as if nothing has happened - leaning across into peoples (strangers) faces and talking to them. You wouldn’t go so close to people in a shop - so why get up so close in a footy ground?

I hope my common sense saved me, and I’m now wondering about Tuesday too.

I also noticed the club seems to have abandoned the covid protocols too.

Out of all the supporters in the ground, the ones most likely to have covid and no symptoms are the kids... You know the ones who haven't been vaccinated and so have a higher chance of contracting it.

And yet the club are doing up close meet and greets... It's a lovely idea but seems odd after we've been so strict on this so far and have had no covid enforced abcenses from players.

Once you see that nobody is wearing one at all, it becomes pointless. It's a two way thing. And everybody else not wearing one is thinking the same thing ... So you end up with almost nobody wearing them.

Exactly the way it should be.

People have been given the opportunity to access the risks for themselves and have made their decisions.

If you're unsure about whether to attend just know that you can't hide away from any virus forever. It might feel like an enormous risk based on the information we've been given for the last 18 months but these are exactly the sort of decisions that are going to have to be made. I hope you feel comfortable to attend.

As somebody who has openly been extremely cautious with regards to Covid, I must admit I felt a real sense of liberty today being able to feel and share normality with my friends and fellow City fans at VP, and my perception and attitude has admittedly shifted somewhat.

Having spent too long worrying about the virus (which I have had and was very ill with for a couple of weeks) I think we just need to learn to live with it in a way that will suit us all to the best possible way.

It's impossible to reach a compromise for everyone to be happy so there has to be some reasonable give and take, however, ultimately it boils down to managing our own level of fear in the most sensible of ways - if that means double or triple masking at the game or sitting in the top corner of the family stand then do what's best for you as an individual. No it's not an ideal situation, and no there's no one-size-fits-all, but as I say there needs to be some reasonable give or take going forward as we learn to live with this virus.

Had this thread not been spoken of, I would not have considered the Covid aspect at today's game.

As my memory serves, I don't recall anybody whatsoever wearing a mask in the upper Kop. That naturally includes myself.

I summise that unless a change in direction is enforced by the government, than those whom wish to enact wear masks etc, are going to have to adopt to such situations. I believe, I see mask wearing declining across all areas of society and take my work place as an example, whereby the vast majority, do not wear masks, of all age groups.

A difficult situation for those with concerns.

Yes, I appreciate that and everyone will make their own judgement. It's just that I was led to believe that the club would be encouraging people to be careful and there was no evidence of that. There wasn't even any hot water in the kop gents. Anyway, I've made my decision not to attend any games until 18 September when it might be clearer how football attendances are affecting cases. I can't go on the 4th anyhow. I have two nieces who are covid nurses at BRI and their stories of the numerous recent deaths they've witnessed, including many young, healthy double-jabbed patients, really brings the threat home. Having been so careful for so long I would be a fool to throw all that away, but it's up to each of us to assess their individual situation.
I really wish now I hadn't gone today not only for the above reasons but also because the football on offer was pretty dire.

Agree on the football. I said last week it was poor division 4 football, and today, to me, I thought it was poor again. A wins a win, but my god, this level is dire.
