You could still have a valid covid passport - produced less than a month ago - and be positive on a PCR?

I can understand that. Whatever the merits of mask wearing, I expect large numbers not to bother which puts the stewards in a very difficult position trying to enforce it.

I travelled from Manchester Piccadilly on the train last week and staff at the automatic turnstiles were preventing passengers go onto the platforms if they weren't wearing a mask. A bit like what the club could do when checking Covid passes at our turnstiles. No pass, no entry. But once on the train, I'd estimate that about 20% or so weren't wearing a mask and the train staff could little about it. I suspect that's what we'll see at VP with fans inside and stewards unable or unwilling to enforce mak wearing inside the stadium.

I went to see From The Jam in Leeds a couple of weeks ago and everyone let in had to show either a valid paper based passport or a valid copy on the app and they were all scanned using the QR code. Anyone without one was turned away.

I'm no fan of them, and agree they are laughable, but until someone comes up with a better plan what can we do ?

Bigger brains than ours are working on this and still can't make it work, but this pandemic is with us for the foreseeable and we can't just let people wander into packed arenas until we know there is enough herd immunity to stop it being a massive danger.

I'm afraid the only answer is if you can't prove you are safe to go out then stay in, even if it is an identity card by stealth, though the French manage to survive by having to carry one.

No disputing that, but only if you are using an old paper based one as the PCR would be uploaded to the digital file. Its all about minimising risks and eliminating all but the idiots who would think that it is acceptable to go out with a positive PCR and put others at risk of death.

There might well be a time where someone dies as a result of coming into contact with a person who went to a gig/ match etc knowing they were positive and they are prosecuted for manslaughter. Is it any different from a landlord being prosecuted for someone dying in their rental because of high carbon monoxide emissions and failing to provide the mandatory safety certificates or perhaps more relevant, the guy who knowing spread HIV in Doncaster a few years ago ?

Completely agree but the covid pass doesn't stop that. You could download your pass from the app today, test positive next Thursday, and still go to a football match on the Saturday and show the download?

Print off or look at your Covid passport. It has an expiry date on it. Mine is currently valid until 8th Jan at 10.22

You're either proving you are fully vaccinated or tested negative if you're proving you're vaccinated you should only need to do it once and once only

If you didn't get the vaccine then you have to prove you tested negative which is different

Nowhere does it say you have to prove both this is all about making sure people are vaccinated

Really? I've been to see Kasabian, James, Pigeon Detectives and the Idles at various locations and each time the staff looked at my phone but definitely didn't scan it.

The fact that I'm almost I got covid at one of these events doesn't help with my perception that they're useless!!

Thats not the point of the Covid Passport though is it. Surely you can see that proving you are vaccinated and proving you are (at that point) free of Covid are totally different. The vaccination does nothing to stop you getting it, just stops you personally getting as ill.

If we are going to use these things effectively, everyone should at least do a monthly LFT and upload it to their passport, which they then refresh. Being vaccinated does not stop you carrying and passing on the disease so proof of vaccination is pointless.

    Under your name it says:

"2D Barcode Expires" (in bold) and then a date underneath that. At the bottom it says your 2D barcode expires 30 days from issue, so every time you refresh it, as long as you haven't had/ logged a positive test, it gives you another 30 days and those who have had a positive PCR or have logged their own positive LFT won't get a refreshed clear passport.

I think the travel one just proves your vaccination status.

You are looking at the Travel one rather than the Domestic one as they are different, and the one you will need for events is the domestic one, but even the travel one has a barcode expiry date next to the barcode.

It is the point you are proving you have had the vaccine beyond that if you test positive you must isolate

The Covid pass is exactly that proof of vaccination

That's been my experience at three different venues. On each occasion, I was asked to show my pass with the QR code on my phone. A few showed theirs on a sheet of paper. I don't recall them being scanned.

I have that obviously but also a printed pass with barcode and no mention of any expiry date..

    It is worded

This is your NHS COVID Pass. Keep it safe
This document is important.it confirms that you have been vaccinated.

I applied online to NHS and received in post a few days later..
