Covid & Covid Passports - Rules & Logistics for City matches?

Judging on tonight’s attendance we won’t need them. Lucky if 6000 here tonight let alone 10k

 

Will be interesting to see if it is stated capacity that is used or will clubs that have excess capacity be able to cap attendance to go below the figure.

 

At 2.55pm when thousands turn up at the same time city won't have time or chance to do so. It's not the 1940s nazi Germany.

Sparks reckons some teams will not be covered by it so will be interesting to see exact criteria. First glance it is 4,000 unseated or 10,000 seated, but what happens if a club has 3,999 unseated and then some seated.

what is the rush? From my quick check first game at VP will be Harrogate on Boxing Day so may as well see how it goes at other places before that and then announce the plan

 

They’ll have to cap the attendance. How will stewards have the mental capacity to check Covid passes when they struggle to scan the season ticket QR code. It’ll be a disaster on Boxing Day if the don’t restrict the numbers. Bring in the points system early.

 

Considering how poor the internet is at vp and most people relying on the nhs app to prove it, any requirements for the passport will be carnage

 

I've just done a covid passport thing at an event I went to and it didn't make any difference it was fine and it was painless and it was also quick so whatever I don't agree with it but if the club can get it right and it's as quick as scanning the season ticket card then so be it but they need to find a way that it's not a ballache and asking everyone to turn up at 1:30 on a Saturday because I'd just rather not go if the club can't organise a way to do it quickly and painlessly

 

Why cap the attendance? Premier league teams will be checking 70k, why can't we check 20k.

If you cap it at 9,999, who misses out given we have more ST holders than that.

So my thoughts, and I've been to a fair few gigs with and without the need for them, are that we need to be pro-active on this rather than have a plan for 'the day'!!

I've shown my Covid passport at gigs but I've been with other people who have bought the tickets so, in effect, I could be showing anybodies Covid passport, nobody asked me for ID to prove it was MY passport. Similarly with a lateral flow test it could be anybody that has done it and passed it on.

But City have my season ticket number, my name and address so I could easily email them a PDF or photo of my COVID passport (which shows name and address) and they could attach it to my BCFC record so at least the Covid passport ties up with the season ticket....

Not 100% foolproof obviously as somebody could use my season ticket but a better way surely?

Similarly, as a club we know the ages of season ticket holders so know if they do / do not require a Covid passport or a lateral flow test and again be pro-active in contacting them...similar to when I've been on holiday (Yes I went to Greece when allowed to!!) you could ask them to send a photo of ID alongside a negative lateral flow test before the day of the game...again not foolproof but better than trying to do it all on the day of the game.

Walk-ups / tickets in the last few days could be a problem but, as they are less, separate entrance and turnstiles (so good elements of social distancing etc!) but have to show lateral flow test, Covid passport etc. ON THE DAY!!

The away team could try and do something similar for the tickets they sell?

Hopefully that would save a lot of work on the day for stewards etc...

The club know who we are the name is on the ticket if they cross reference it with the nhs app then surely we only need to prove we're vaccinated once because we're not exactly going to get unvaccinated

 

That's exactly my point. Only needs to be done once - the club can't 'cross reference' the NHS app from a GDPR/DPA perspective but we can provide the details individually - then it would be only walk ups and those Season Ticket holders without a Covid passport.

 

I've been just the once this season so far because I thought that it was too soon to pile people so close together.
They think it's all over. It isn't.
I get booster tomorrow and I will probably start going again if everybody has to show a vax pass. Not before.
It makes no sense to keep meeting in crowds, infections rise and then we go back to lockdowns.
