Something we need to think seriously on as the rumours get stronger that we will need formal ID that we are fully vaccinated to enter football grounds. What are people’s thoughts on this ?

Seems the bulletproof idea of a negative lateral flow test is the proof you will need going forward.

So get ready to register your test as negative without taking it to give you the green light on your app.

    Absolutely pointless.

Well I have no problem with those vaccinated or those who are not it's about personal choice like with any vaccination let's remember people can be exempt also however if you do need to be fully vaccinated then I presume those who aren't will be entitled to a full ST refund

Why would anybody want to fake the rresults of a LFT and risk spreading the virus to others? It's simply irresponsible.

I think covid passports are an abhorrent idea. But they're coming. I'll do everything I can to swerve any establishment that demands presentation of a covid passport for entry

I’ve downloaded the NHS App and got a Covid Pass which is basically a green tick to say I am fully vaccinated. However Boris Johnson said yesterday that it is only “suggested” that businesses ask for this, ie There is no law in place to ask for it.

From what I’ve read, it will also show a tick if you are not vaccinated BUT have had a negative test in the last 48 hours.

Given there’s apparently a 95% chance or similar of NOT catching Covid once fully vaccinated, and its use not being mandated, I can’t see there being much uptake by businesses or football clubs asking attendees to prove their status.

The government update was wooly as anything. Proper sloppy shouldered politics. Covid passports are not mandated by law but are 'encouraged'. What does that actually mean? Does it mean that establishments can refuse entry to anyone not vaccinated? If so, thats disgraceful - its an act of facism.

But they have also implied that if uptake isn’t high they will revisit it and maybe regulate. I think if they do regulate then the lateral flow bit might give a different symbol so people can tell difference as the lateral flow testing is pointless as it is easy to get a pass

Fair enough but with the fellow G7 countries looking at making it mandatory to have a passport for major events and our country having a very weak leader I have my doubts on whether it will not be law.

Because they are perfectly fine, they can't afford time off work, they want to watch a football game, their mates are going out?

You think those at the football the other night would miss out if they felt perfectly fine but happened to test positive?

Do you think someone who is working in a nightclub who can't afford time off work but feels perfectly fine will miss 10 days of work because a test tells they to? A self employed DJ?

Not everyone who tests positive is in a position where they feel they need to isolate, hence people deleting the app in droves.

You can do all of that by taking the LFT and it proving negative. Then, there's no issue. If however it proves positive then yes, you should be isolating and not be responsible for spreading the virus to others whether friends, family or complete strangers. Faking the test result merely increases the risk that while you're out enjoying tourself, others are being infected through no fault of their own. Faking the result for your own short term pleasures is simply gambling with the well being of others.

You don't even need to fake them as LFT's are only around 40% accurate. Many countries don't even recognise them as a valid test because they are so inaccurate. I know of 6 occasions this year in which a different member of staff at a single school has had a positive LFT result only for the PCR to come back negative the next day, as a result that year group has missed 2 days education thanks to the inaccuracy of the LFT.

The passports are a joke. If you're worried about COVID get vaccinated, that's the best way to protect yourself. Discriminating against those who chose not to get the vaccine is unfair and ridiculous.

Likewise. So its not about being a blanket 'anti-vaxxer' - its much more nuanced than that.

You 100% should be isolating if you test positive but we're now seeing that, as the individual risks drop, the inconvenience of the isolation is becoming a bigger factor in people's decision making than the actual medical risks and people are doing everything they can to avoid it.

That's currently showing itself in terms of deleting the app or taking kids out of school prior to a holiday but it will filter through into avoiding tests for borderline symptoms prior to important dates - if it hasn't already.

I'm not saying it the right thing to do be any means but you can already see that it's the trajectory of people's behavior and it din't going to get any better. Especially for big cup games or exciting pre-planned away days.

I tried to get signed up for the NHS App. I have now tried to verify my identity on it 4 times with no success.
Looking at various online reviews and comments it is a common problem.
I think there will be trouble unless the App improves.

Why would anybody expect someone to miss Sutton at home just to protect others from a highly infectious, potentially fatal, virus?

Nothing more loyal than still going to City battling a virus, no positive test will stop me. Other people need to get their priorities right. #CTID

^^^^^^^^^^^^^100%, its only a little prick guys, if for whatever reason you don't want to have it then you may be excluded from things in the future, it really is as simple as that.

    Right with you Faithful.

The idea that this stops with Covid jabs is naive in the extreme. Accept the principle and we will soon come to realise that our "movement licence" or "green card" will be needed for every aspect of life.

And the requirements in the future to maintain its validity may not always be something you want to do.

I will avoid any business that goes down this route and regrettably that means City too if they choose to.
