Putting a marker against season tickets or repeat customers for covid status is a complete non-starter. Personally identifiable medical information is classed as the most sensitive type of data that a company can hold about an individual and you need a cast iron reason for processing it (let alone storing it) otherwise the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) will come down on you like a tonne of bricks and the fines they can levy on companies can be eye watering. Reducing queuing time is not going to be a good enough reason for BCAFC to be allowed to retain personal medical data for individuals.

As an aside, re the music venue discussion... even scanning a covid QR code counts as digital processing of medical information even if that data is not retained so any company undertaking that procedure would have to be certain that they are GDPR compliant which adds costs on top of the cost of the software. However, there is no legal need for any digital verification so a visual check of the QR code will suffice and save all of the GDPR data hassle so venues without sophisticated and secure IT systems and data handling processes are likely to go down this route.

Not sure about laws aimed at individuals faking covid passorts or using someone else's passport.

Are you sure about the scanning of QR codes counting as you don’t actually process anything if using the official apps provided by the government? There is no details of needing to register with the ICO that you are processing the data on the websites to download the app. It specifically says that using the app you are not retaining personal data

No issues if the information isn't stored and you have given explicit (rather than implied) consent, which you have by agreeing to have it scanned.

You also need a licence from ico which city will have because of storing members details, but I wouldn't expect a student union bar to have one.

even the app needed to scan the QR code doesn’t need internet access to check the QR is valid

Sorry, you're probably right. I'd had to look at guidance for an organisation I work with on this subject but that had been in terms of using an in house system rather than an "arm's length" one. The cost element of implementing scanners vs a visual check still stands though and probably accounts for differences between venues.

does a visual check count? If so why bother building the app?

Had one experience of needing a Covid passport for a stadium when I went down to the Spurs ground for the NFL this year.

The passport scan was done by separate staff at the bottom of the staircase or start of the walk ways before you got to the ticket scanners. Once you show your pass you then got to go to the ticket stall, added an extra few minutes queuing and that's about it.

I remember in the T&A a few months back, sparks was asked about covid passes and the extra costs because I think at the time the gov said they have to hire other staff to scan passes, along side ticket stall staff. Not sure if it's the same story now for pass scanning.

Yes, you'd need to evidence that it's happening and that you've trained people etc but at the very least even if you were using the app you'd want a fall abck option if the technology fails, no one's expecting a gig to be cancelled because the phone/pda that the person on the door is using runs out of charge.

I've not seen the app so not really in a position to offer any answers. However, as an IT consultant I'll be very happy to speculate, offer an opinion as to how it should have been built and tell you how I would do it better;)

Just had an e-mail from the club regarding "plan b".
    https://www.bradfordcityafc.com/news/2021/december/club-statement-covid-plan-b/

Not wanting to create work for the admins or owt but is it worth a sticky thread for how to get your covid docs sorted out? Having experienced carnage at Manchester airport with far smaller queues than there'll be at VP on Boxing day it's in everyone's best interests that as many people are clued up on this as possible.

Is it possible to get a refund on the unused part of a season ticket if you're not happy to go along with this kind of thing? It seems like it should be, as clearly the terms of the season ticket have changed since buying it.

The level of interest in attending on Boxing Day may not be as high as you think.

Recent COVID restriction announcements coupled with our poor form will put a few off. Maybe more than a few.

To get in to the ground. It's only what everyone's been doing for the past 4 months (not testing & going to the game, I mean).

Dunno, but T&C's would seem to cover:
2.16 2.11 Before entering the Ground you may be asked to undertake temperature checks and/or any other testing regarded as prudent in order to safeguard against COVID-19 risk.

    Also the catch all:
11.1. The Club reserves the right to change these Terms & Conditions of Entry from time to time and shall notify you of such changes if they materially affect your rights as a consumer. This notification will be made via the contact method indicated in your account preference

I welcome the introduction of Covid passes and I might just go on Boxing Day, for only my 2nd game of the season. Besides, that's my birthday.

Yeah, he, like you, is a t**t for wanting a refund.

government is to blame, not City.

you should be embarrassed to ‘support’ yer club.
