Reminder: Please can we try and keep this thread to whether or not COVID-19 passports will be required to attend City matches and the logistical issues if so.

Any debate about the rights and/or wrongs of COVID-19 passports, and other general COVID-19 debate/comments should go in the 'COVID-19' thread in 'General Chat', which is where most of today's posts have gone.

If it is brought in does it include all the staff? I remember reading somewhere that not all the Newport players had had the vaccine

When it was implicated in Estonia, they gave us a weeks notice it was happening!! One of the rules, was that all staff working in the bars had to be vaccinated. "You're not allowed to check someone's pass, if you're not vaccinated yourself" was the line. All understandable - but what wasn't, was the fact they'd given us a weeks notice, and even if any members of staff who were unvaccinated, got the vaccination, it still takes fourteen days to kick in. It left loads of bars and restaurants short staffed, and in some circumstances, people lost their jobs because they refused to get the vaccine.

I can really see the proverbial hitting the fan once this gets underway in the UK.

Trying to decide if they will exclude 'the performers' as they don't mix with the paying guests

Wait until people get to hear the things planned in Australia, in the next few weeks it's all going to be fun and games down under but I have feeling the media won't be reporting the full story if at all any.

From what I hear there are quite a few players throughout the league's who are refusing. I believe man utd are one of the clubs where players had refused the vaccine or at least up until a few weeks ago that was the case don't know if that stance has changed since.

Many top athlete's are refusing it due to the possible side effect of myocarditis or pericarditis.

The club will continue to rely upon a recent negative Covid test result as they are doing currently as an alternative to a double jab. That's how the Covid pass is expected to operate.

They have removed that from the Covid Pass, that's why it's completely pointless.

Having a covid passport purely based on double vaccination and nothing else is like presuming that just because someone has a drivers licence that they automatically have insurance, an MOT or they would pass a breathalyser. Of course we know that having a licence doesn't mean you have the correct insurance or your car is roadworthy but on the same basis we know just because you have the vaccine doesn't mean you can't catch or spread the virus.

I would presume all stewards, catering staff, etc would have to be laid off if they are unvaccinated, and all season ticket holders unvaccinated would require a refund should these rules be pushed through.

That conflicts with what is already happening on the ground.

There is an existing protocol used by all clubs for testing players and staff which requires a negative test result. It's been in place for many months. The handful of clubs involved in the dry running of the Covid pass are already integrating these test results into their own regimes.

Well the rules about to be launched by the government remove that testing part for vaccine only. If they allow football clubs to use that instead then nightclubs etc will be all over the difference.

The Scottish passport scheme is vaccination only and from what the Vaccination Minister has said previously the English scheme will be the same

I don't know whether this has any relevance to how a Covid pass will be introduced at VP and the other clubs but the Scottish version exempts staff at the venues from having to prove their double jab. Weird! But the Scottish footie clubs are still planning to continue with their current protocols for players, staff etc for both those clubs which have to adopt the Covid pass because of their ground size and those which don't.

Thanks. I couldn’t find the bit about staff anywhere. That makes it even more pointless

Some countries are allowing proof of a positive test within 180 days / 6 months as an alternative to being double jabbed, which would make sense as natural immunity is stronger than artificial immunity.

Estonia’s rules are that you need to show proof of double vaccination, or a doctors record valid within 6 months that you’ve had covid, or a negative test taken within the last 48h, to get into establishments. Many places are offering rapid tests at the charge of 6€-8€ at point of entry.

If the UK are only offering entry for vaccinated ppl, then that’s messed up!
