That's utterly hilarious considering the only links you ever post is to the Guardian, which is the furthest left newspaper in Britain.

The only reason you're fixated with the Guardian is that it conforms to your political bias. It's a classic case.

The Guardian isn’t very left wing. It’s hessian tote, avocado on toast, Tesla driver, soy latte, Mumford and sons, Brompton bike, holidays in Tuscany, vinyl record shop, Waitrose, chia seeds, night at the opera in newspaper form…Very middle class darling. In my eyes anyway

Blimey. As someone on the far right, l would have thought you would have known about papers on the far left!
Just shows you when you think you knew everything!

what part of what I've said on this forum is far left? If It's so blatant and obvious, you'll have no trouble pointing it out for me.

You really do live in cloud cuckoo land, don't you? You don't have a clue about the spread of political opinion. The Guardian isn't 'far left', or anything like it. The Morning Star and Socialist Worker are far left.

The majority political stance of the Guardian is social democrat. The established big hitting journalists like Polly Toynbee, Andrew Rawnsley, Jonathan Freedland, Simon Jenkins, Gaby Hinsliff, Nick Cohen, Will Hutton, and various more, are basically liberals/social democrats (assuming you know what that means). Several of them actually advocated voting LibDem rather than Labour at previous general elections.

"Far left" = Marxist. There are few, if any Marxists writing in the Guardian.

I would post from other papers, but most are behind paywalls, unlike the Guardian.

The last time the Tories were in power for a few years they wrecked the economy and ruined public services especially the NHS. It's what the Tories do.

if you want nice things you have to pay for them. I also think its delusional in the extreme to claim the budget had no impact on anything. if it did nothing truss and kwarteng would still be in a job and nobody would have cared about it.

They messed up their process and their communication but everything that they did was reversed. Long term it's had pretty much zero impact in the grand scheme of the costs of covid support and energy assistance. All of the uncertainty that Truss and Kwarteng caused has been settled down by Hunt and Sunak.

And I agree about paying for things but that doesn't mean that it's a nonstop cascade of just taking more and more. We're not even getting nice things from the current round of tax rises though, it's just plugging holes.

Weirdly enough there's a clip of Tony Blair discussing taxation (including keeping the top rate at 40%) and I completely agree with him.

This is apparently now a "far right" idea but to me it's nothing more than common sense. The difference between Truss and Blair is that Blair could actually communicate his ideas effectively. It's very strange to me that there are quite a lot of people on here (maybe even including you) who hold the Blair era up as a golden age but then ignore the actual building blocks

YouGov in itself is a leftie polling tool.

nobody with an ounce of sanity would consider the Guardian ‘very right wing’

Pah! A leftie polling tool? It was originally founded by one Nadhim Zahawi, member of Johnson's cabinet and recently Conservative Chancellor of the Exchequer and now Conservative Party chairman. Yougov is now under the control and direction of CEO Stefan Shakespeare who was himself a Conservative candidate and recently owner of the party's in-house magazine Conservative Home. Hardly a definition of left wing even for a right wing extremist.

The same could be said about people thinking the Mail, etc are left wing.

All the extremes of this show is that probably 10% of people don't even know what these words mean :joy:

Irrelevant of who founded or owns it (although those you mentioned can only be described as centrists in real terms), the majority of people who speak online whether it be Twitter, social media, polls, whatever, are the left. Hence the term the 'silent right'.

If Twitter for example were to be taken at face value, you'd think 90% of the country were backing Jeremy Corbyn in the last general election.

Any poll whose results outline 5% claiming the Guardian is very right wing, or 5-10% claiming the Mail is very left wing, has literally no credence whatsoever.

I'd say 90% of people don't care a jot for the wording of the left or right wing. Most just want what they see as a fair system.
