It's a joke in the extreme. Its why I support things like striking and non payment of bills, because at this point large companies are just mugging ordinary people off because they know they can and nothing will happen.

This really boils my p***s more than anything, even perhaps more than Putin.

How dare the managements of these two companies steal this amount of money from the British public.

There are laws, but I feel the punishment should fit the crime, I cannot belittle these management teams enough.

    They are sub-human.

(rant over. Lets please ensure these companies are not allowed to get away with this.)

The bankers got away with the subprime fiasco several of them should have served jail sentences, the same with the PPI scam the banks knew exactly what they were doing that's why a bank like Lloyds didn't contest many if any of the claims, yet they were quick enough to stop paying their share holder dividends.

at the beginning of this something like 40 small energy suppliers went out of business, because the cost of energy rose beyond the point at which it was profitable for them to sell energy (potted explanation). There was a case for a rise in costs, but at this point it's basically just outrageous profiteering.

Isn't it funny we have people telling us the problems with regards global warming and the burning of fossil fuel, yet countries are now talking about the possibility re introducing the burning of fossil fuel because they are so reliant on Russian oil
Well done Maggie for selling our resources to privately owned companies in turn some sold out to foreign investors.

I think this will turn the publics opinion towards nationalisation of gas, electric and water companies. Id go for rail as well but Id make those private companies owned by the public. So as to keep the competitiveness for bonus's and jobs.

There's already strong public support for all of this, people have realised what an absolute failure privatisation has been for the ordinary person.

I personally believe public services and utilities should be owned by the populace.

They are far too important to be owned by commercial enterprises who have only one driving force...............profit.

The decisions made on behalf of this type of "company" should be for the benefit of the people, not the shareholders.

A movement is out there. What it's uptake is, I'm not sure.

    https://dontpay.uk/

I'm not sure if this campaign will have the desired effect..

Regrettably, I fear the breaking point for ''public action'' will occur against a back drop (and I sincerely apologise if this is insensitive) when our young/old are carried from there 'homes' in body bags.

CWU and RMT members striking. Both unions look after workers from privatised industries that are making millions and millions of profit.

Energy prices are astronomical and rising so there's talk of a strike of sorts by payment non-compliance. Privatised energy companies are also making millions and millions in profit.

Nice to see ordinary folk suggesting that these industries should be publicly owned again but also quite infuriating. We had this suggestion from the opposition in the last general election yet the leader and his politics were smeared as Communist, Marxist and anti-semetic. These ordinary people were persuaded to vote Tory - the very people who privatised all these industries. The very people that you will see as major shareholders and board members of these companies. These ordinary people, working class people and now creeping towards middle class people are going to be hit the hardest by the rising prices. Turkeys voting for Xmas.

The Tory lot win either way now. If it stays privatised they continue to reap the rewards. If it's renationalised they'll all have to be paid off handsomely.

Any nationalisation of the utilities will have to be run a dam site better than they were before privatisation, They were a disaster for the customer.

Why didn't Labour persue the renationalisation under Blair when they were in office with a 179 majority and could guarentee at least a second term and possibly a third unless the messed up big time with that sort of majority.
With regards your red wall and Labour supporters voting Tory that has been done to death, for a leaver there was no other party to honour the referendum result, the other parties were dumb leaving only Labour offering leavers a ridiculous scenario aying they would renegotiate the deal then vote against it if you remember.

I don't think they were any worse than the privatised utility companies have been. And the cost to the consumer was a fraction of what it's been in recent years (even before the recent gas price hike). The privatised companies have been making big profits for poor services and we've all been paying through the nose for it.
